An offer from a Rogue (part 3)

  Chapter 14

They arrived the south side of Central City facing jade and dark blue building. Titan got out first as the building seemed to come alive. Lighting flashed out from the building next to him.

Titan felt like the dungeon building was watching him. He looked directly at a wizard dressed in aqua blue uniform stationed at the double door entrance of the dungeon building.

The wizard flinched back at Titan’s direct violet gaze. Charlie came to stand next to Titan and patted his shoulder and rested his arm around Titan’s shoulder.

They started forward with the others silently following behind them watching.

“Alright nephew. You got the dagger right?” Charlie said.

“Yeah. I got a plan on how to use it later to get out but I don’t know if it will work. How many times can I attempt a try today?” Titan said.

“You got a window of forty-eight hours, nephew. The customer is waiting. Stick to your plan, adjust it as you go. I’ll help you out with mapping your route. The rest is up to you.” Charlie said.

“We’ll be blocking the assholes as best as we can.” Hank said.

“You’ll feel that greed shit kick in fast. Don’t slow down. Rush for exit.” Eddie said.

Titan took in a breath through his nose and nodded his head. “Alright. Let’s do this shit.”

The Rough Ridders approached the wizard guarding the dungeon entrance. Titan rubbed his hands together.

The front was all glass walls. He saw a mixture of wild trees and two elevators leading up to the first floor.

Titan barely looked at the wizard guard as the doors opened for them. Titan dashed inside. Fresh scents and the sounds of wild life greeted him.

He got out a notebook from his pocket and started drawing up a rough map of the entrance. He started up the stairs. He walked forward to the elevator doors.

Charlie tapped Titan’s shoulder. “The elevators don’t work. Stairway up ahead to your left.”

Titan nodded and he walked to his left to an open doorway.

The stairway were a mixture of brick stone steps and veins and muss on the walls.

A thin tree stood in the middle of the space. He proceeded up the stairway.

The whole way he marked the stairway on his map and counted how long it took him to get to the top floors.

Titan frowned as he felt something heat up in the front of his belt pocket.

Titan took out the dagger. The blade turned violet and a sound like a wind chime came from it.

Suddenly a door to sixth floor was kicked up a man dressed in dusty gold uniform took aim at him with a rifle.

Titan threw his dagger. The dagger landed in the soldier’s head.

The soldier screamed as Titan grabbed the weapon while Charlie grabbed the soldier and with Titan’s help threw him over the side.

  “Titan. The Dagger.” Ronald said.

Titan started to move then stopped. He looked down where the body was on the floor.

“That’s good. I can use that for later.” Titan said and he turned and expanded his focus.

The sound of a male groans and men cursing were near the office floor.

Titan looked around and then started climbing the stairway fast.

Titan moves to a doorway. The door opened and magical fire blasts out from the doorway.

Titan appears on the side of the doorway and knocks out the fire wizard with the but of the rifle.

Titan drops the rifle as he sends out his focus.

The office room was dark but he could hear the wind chime sound.

Titan took out his Axiom Edge and listened as he heard someone else was near.

His feet were quiet as he crept forward not making a sound.

Someone took an inward breath and moved out from the corner.

Titan waited and made no sound.

“INFERNO!” The wizard came out of the corner to blast fire magic at Titan.

Titan appeared behind his enemy and sliced his back.

The wizard screamed, falling to the ground.

Titan heard the wind chime behind before he was tackled to the floor. They rolled around until he was punched.

Titan looked up as his enemy prepared to stab him. Titan reached for his M1P7 at his side and fired it.

An explosion went off from the nose of the barrel. A mixture of fire and strange violent energy launched out from the weapon.

It sent his enemy flying backward off of Titan. Titan got to his feet and he half turned to continue his search.

The sound of a trigger being pulled back behind Titan made him freeze.

The sound of the wind chime went off behind him.

“You got the dagger?” Titan said.

“Yep. You were too slow. You and your people got here too late.”

Titan snorted. “I’m a rookie OG and I’m not a fighter type.”

“You did good for your first round. To bad it has to end early. Any last words?”

“I hit you with the judgement. How come you’re alive? I expected you to slow you down at least.” Titan said.

“That’s it? You want to know why you didn’t get me?”

“Please. I’m already going to die. Let me know. Teach me one lesson.”

“The Judgement, huh!? M1P7? Too bad you used a fire bullet against a fire wizard. The weapon is better used as a distraction than a real attack weapon. The salesman that sold you the weapon should have told you that.”

Titan dodged the first bullet. He appeared behind his enemy only to be blasted away with a burst of fire.

Titan screamed as he was blasted off his feet. He rolled to his feet and took off running for the exit.

The office walls and floors started to flicker red.

  “Son of bitch thief!”

Fire hit Titan’s back as he dove over the edge and landing.

  TITAN! NO!

Titan was falling fast. He set his focus on the dagger below stabbed in the body of dungeon monster.

A second later Titan appeared on top of the body. He yanked the dagger from the dead body of the dungeon soldier.

Once Titan got the dagger out the body it disappeared. A mountain of gold coins appeared at his feet.

  “Titan RUN FOR THE EXIT!”

Titan’s eyes turned violet as he took off for the exit. He wiped sweat from his brow as he started limping away toward the entrance. Shouts and fighting was behind him.

Titan felt his heart hammering against his chest. He smiled as a thrill caught hold of him.

The rush of victory in finding the dagger made Titan laugh. His vision began to blur out on his peripheral vision. He saw a clear path to exit ahead of him.

Fresh energy and a thrill of excitement made his blood race. He started to run. He felt a rush for the win. He was close. He could taste the win.

  The Rush.

Titan felt the need to move fast. He had both daggers in his hands as he moved. Nothing mattered was the rush for the exit. At the elevator monsters appeared.

They charged at him. Titan leaped up throwing one dagger over their heads.

Titan appeared in the air catching the dagger. He kept throwing daggers and catching them as he pushed forward. He stepped on monsters’ heads and shoulders pushing himself forward.

One final push Titan leaped out of the doors of the dungeon and landed hard on his side with both daggers in his hands.

Titan lay on the ground. He breathed heavily as he fought to catch his breath.

Titan closed his eyes. A burst of energy pushed inside of his body. He opened his eyes and looked at the wizard guard.

The Wizard had a friendly friendly smile on his round face. His crimson chestnut eyes were warm.

“You got what you were looking for, huh?” The Wizard said with a grin.

Titan nodded. “Ebony dagger. Close one though. How long were we in?” He asked.

  “Twenty-two hours.” He said.

“Shit. It only felt like barely an hour went by.” Titan said.

  “Hmm. You a rogue class?”

Titan nodded. “Yeah. I got my lesson from a government licensing office.” He said.

“Oh. Glenda was your training right?” the Wizard asked.

“Yeah. She still is. What’s the damage looking like Mr?” Titan asked, waving a hand at himself.

“My name is Jim Winslow.. You took a flesh wound from a bullet. You also took fire damage to the back. Did you get a look at the wizard that hit you?” He said.

Titan frowned, shaking his head. “No. He did something to my mind. I couldn’t see his face. He was a big son of a bitch though. He sounded like he was in his early forties too.” He said.

Jim shook his head. “Fire Wizards can’t blind the mind. They had a mind fucker with them?”

“Ah what the fuck are you talking about?” Titan asked.

Jim’s cheeks flushed. “You must be real green. A mind fucker is a Psi class. They have ways of fucking with people’s mind.”

  Mind fucker!

Titan stared at him. He was quietly thinking on that concept.

Titan lay back on the ground staring up at the glass ceiling.

“Jim. Have you seen my people coming out of the dungeon yet?”

“Yep. Their coming now young blood. Their looking in bad shape too. You should convince them to leave. They need to get moving from here to pick you up.”

  “Thanks Jim.”

“No worries. Oh you’ll need to rest in bed for a couple of hours. I’ll take care of the ones that tried to kill you.”

“Are you sure about that Jim? They were some strong top rank wizards.”

Jim chuckled. “Don’t worry about me. I’m a top rank myself and I have rules to enforce.

Titan tried to get up but fell down. “Damn. I’m spent. I got nothing in my body.” He said.

“I know. Just relax. Your people are coming.” Jim said.

Charlie limped out with a grim look on his face and his teeth gritting. Righteous anger was on his grim expression. He looked ready to kill.

Hank and Eddie were helping Ronald out. Charlie looked at Jim and handed him strange glowing staff.

JIm whistled. “Thank you. I’ll put this to good use taking out the rest of that trash coming out. I’ll get them. Take your young rogue home.”

Charlie bent down and lifted Titan up and carried him to the van. They got Titan inside and buckled him up.

Ronald sat next to him looking pale and sweaty. Titan looked at him.

“Did you get any gold coins into my magic bag?” Titan asked.

Ronald snorted in laughter and then coughed shortly. He snorted. “Shit. Sadly yes I did. Your idea worked.”

Titan frowned. “We won. I got the dagger and we got gold coins. What’s wrong?” He said.

Ronald shook his head. “You won Young Blood. Rest. We’re all proud of you.” He said.
