VOL 2 | CHAPTER 190: | HOLY WAR | 5

  CHAPTER 190: | HOLY WAR | 5

Meanwhile, at the seemingly empty southern battlefront where no specks of dust could be seen, nor any force of the Evernight Church lingering in the battlefields, nor the forces of the Lahaina Empire visible either, their most prestigious powerhouse could be seen levitating in the air with the presence of a god in a standstill, no more than a minute after Lumicor's armaments descended into the mortal world.

"I am impressed at your audacity to address yourself as a god, shameless as you are. I am not so thick-faced like you, so entertain me, oh a mortal who proclaims itself to be a god."

Lohara lifted his hand then motioned his fingers in a provocative manner as he continued.

  "Come!"

To challenge his authority was unforgivable. He was a god, so what right did a mortal emperor have to challenge him?

"You're right... I am no god right now. I am merely a visage of what I once was, so what right do I have to call myself a god?"

Lumicor nodded coldly, his voice icy cold as he flicked his hand.

The silence in the world was broken at the sound of flames coming to life at his rage. The dim embers ate the world mana along with any concepts all over the flesh, be it flesh, blood, wind, earth, wood, metal, or anything else, to burn.

To rise its temperature not through burning some measly wood charcoal nor oxygen that could be found all over the world which normal flames used as a fuel to burn, but concepts that could be treated as a fuel to ignite itself, drawing in the very essence of existence with a hungry, crackling fervor.

The embers transformed into moths of flames as their temperatures rose into the thousands, then into three thousands, without the intention to stop any time soon. As their flames became fiercer, the brighter they got, the moths of flames only came to a standstill when the temperatures of the flames rose to ten thousand.

Only then did they shed their shells in a chain of explosion as all of them emerged as moths of radiance that levitated in the empty air like constellations, shimmering with an otherworldly glow that painted the void in hues of ethereal light.

There were two methods for Lumicor to create these moths of radiance, no, not just radiance but starlight itself. There were two methods to create it, the first being this slow process of creating embers that he needed to ignite through the concepts of the world as fuels until they became radiance.

Then, when radiance came to light, Lumicor would purify these moths of radiance until they reached a state of purity that he would then combine and collide against each other to create starlight, which cost him less mana compared to letting his halo of starlight passively create starlights in speed faster than manually creating them.

Even though Lumicor preferred this method over the first option, which was to manually create these moths of starlight that consumed more of his mental energy reserves, in manually creating these moths of starlight it gave him the capabilities to last longer in this battle, which he could foresee to be a battle of attrition like what happened between him and Alister.

It was such a shame that he couldn't use this method right at this moment. All of it was due to the destruction of his core mana circuits. If only his mana circuits weren't destroyed, chances were that this arrogant draconian wouldn't even be able to stand in front of him. It was such a pity that he couldn't just spam his attacks at the man, unleashing wave after wave without restraint.

Indeed, what a pity. If only his mana circuits weren't so thoroughly destroyed that he had to use such a drastic method that it didn't even suit his arrogance to be cornered, that he had no choice but to sacrifice his lifespan along with his attunement to mana just to carve a lesser mana circuits in his core, just to win in this battle at a price so great, a cost that echoed through his very being.

It is indeed a pity, yet what could he do about it? He was powerless to the point that he was weaker than someone else... his plan to steal Alister's Von Fai knowledge then kill him in the moment he obtained it failed. He lost to him due to his oversight that thought Alister was still the same after a year. It was his arrogance that led to his downfall, and to fall once more to someone of this caliber wasn't something he was keen about, not at all.

The stillness in the entire miniature world broke the moment he flicked his finger. Lumicor wasn't so keen to lose to someone else right now since he was a god, so even if he, a god, had fallen too low, defeat was never an option to him.

The moths of radiance levitating in the southern battlefront illuminated their radiance as the world itself trembled at the descent of the constellation of the night sky. As their luminescence shined even brighter, they've taken the shape of three hundred thousand spears that then hovered in the empty sky, casting long shadows that danced across the barren ground below.

Lumicor's pupils narrowed as he stared at Lohara still nonchalantly standing still in the air without even moving an inch. He couldn't quite understand this man: was he frozen in fear after his display of power, or perhaps he was bored at this level of display?

The answer to that was neither. Lohara wasn't scared nor was he bored at this display of power, but instead he was amused at Lumicor's level of control that even he, the one fated to ascend to godhood, was envious at this display of power.

"I am impressed, demonic god. I thought you were a jester pretending to be a god, but after witnessing this level of control, I must acknowledge your godlike mana control."

Lohara said those words jokingly as he lifted his hand then demonstrated some form of martial arts as he merely thrust his index finger at the empty air.

A violent gust of wind that threatened to obliterate Lumicor's existence passed through his cheeks, then in the next second the city wall of the Evernight Church situated in the southern battlefront was gone... obliterated to the point that it looked like it didn't even exist there in the first place, leaving only a void where stone once stood firm.

However, to Lohara's expectations, instead of being taken aback or feeling fear for his life, Lumicor merely yawned at his demonstration of power. Lumicor was disappointed at this level of destruction that a mere greater sovereign at stage one could unleash at its full might.

He was expecting that something far more impressive than destroying some wall would be shown to him. Maybe he was expecting too much that he even considered a mere mortal to be a threat.

So for the second time, Lumicor demonstrated his might as he pointed his hand at the ground below him, and in the next moment a flash of light passed through Lohara's cheeks, and in the next the entire region quaked violently as a massive sinkhole that stretched for miles with no end could be seen below them, swallowing earth and air in a rumbling abyss.

Lohara wasn't expecting something this monstrous from the start of their battle, since he was expecting something like they would exchange their attacks for a warmup, not jumping to their final phase from the start like what Lumicor did right now.

It is common sense, right, to have some exchange before going to the second phase of the fight? For a more cinematic scenery, right? It was in the script to do that before going to the final phase, right? So how could such a man of caliber who had the gall to call himself a god not understand common sense?!! How could he not understand it!!!

Lohara was still in a state of shock since how could he not be? When his opponent didn't have the common sense, the honor to fight a normal battle? Lohara's expression was extremely sour since he had thought too highly of this man, but before he could think straight, pain struck his nerves as spears of starlight struck his arms then exploded into chains of light as pillars of light appeared in the empty air to restrain him for good, binding him with unyielding brilliance.

  "How careless."

Lumicor said in a mocking voice as he took a step, his form turning into a streak of light then reappearing in front of Lohara with his index finger pressed against Lohara's head as he continued.

"Then I guess this is goodbye?"

Lohara, who had always remained calm this entire time, finally let out a sigh as he stared at Lumicor's arrogance, at the arrogance to proclaim that he had already died at his hands.

  "How arrogant."

Lohara whispered as he broke free from the chains that constrained him then pummeled his fist into Lumicor's chest as he whispered.

  "Now die."

A gust of wind exploded in front of him as he was sure that he had sent Lumicor miles away, yet to his dismay pain flared at his back as he was sent crashing at the bottom of the sinkhole instead, as Lumicor intercepted his punch with a kick then followed by a series of kicks that sent Lohara into various places before he was sent crashing into the sinkhole instead, each impact echoing like thunder through the fractured landscape.

  "SPEAR OF DESTRUCTION."

Lumicor, levitating in the air, shouted as he brought his hand down, and ten thousand spears of starlight gathered above him then joined into one singular form into that of a massive spear that covered the entire sky with its glory, descending into the sinkhole at a speed faster than sound as Lohara, still buried in the ground, let out a soft chuckle.

He was in disbelief that the demonic god had countered him when he was known for his fist, for his speed that transcended sound itself. He couldn't believe it that such a dirty yet worthy foe even existed as he cracked his knuckles then donned a rough-looking gauntlet as he leaped from the hole then met the spear with his fist head-on as he shouted.

"IS THIS YOUR BEST? THEN IF IT IS, THEN I AM SORRY TO DISAPPOINT YOU!!!"

"Heh, you dare to test me?"

Lumicor chuckled in amusement as he lifted his gilded spear covered in starlight, spread all of his sixteen wings that stretched for hundreds of meters as he flapped them in excitement, as he traveled at a speed faster than the spear of destruction, faster than Lohara.

And before Lohara could notice, Lumicor had already appeared right behind him and had already plunged his gilded spear into his open back, then begun his ascent to the sky as he threw his spear toward the spear of destruction descending into the sinkhole before he muttered coldly.

  "Perish, foolish mortal."
