VOL 2 | CHAPTER 105: | THE END OF THE ORIGINAL

CHAPTER 105: | THE END OF THE ORIGINAL

  ---

  "Hmm?"

I lifted the solid, brain-shaped Demonic Core, which was my main core, and I couldn't help but notice some small, creeping roots taking hold within its crystalline structure.

It was growing at an impressively slow pace while spreading ambitiously to corrupt my demonic core.

It's attempts to contaminate me were kind of cute, since if it wasn't an Emperor Core which had the strongest defensive power out of all other core types, impervious to contamination, soul intrusion, soul search, and more stuff that I didn't need to explain of how impressively powerful it was compared to the others.

Still, it was terrifying to know that a parasitic seed was encroaching in my core, but there's no need to worry about it as a threat since my main Demonic Core would suppress it completely once it matures, ultimately eradicating its troublesome corruption.

I smiled at the revelation before me while tapping my core with keen interest since there was no need for me to completely eradicate it.

The power of the Fallen could end up useful once it fully infects my existence, and my authority, being the power of Distortion, would allow me to distort its effects to my liking.

'Hahaha, this would definitely work, if I’m not wrong... the power of the Fallen would be mine if I make the seed of the Fallen completely mine...'

It was a ridiculous notion, an insane image that tells you that you could fly without wings, but I could soar to the sky without one by gliding through the atoms with my bare body if I so wished it.

So the feat of distorting the seed of the Fallen into the Distorted Seed of the Fallen wouldn't be a dream but a reality, if I so wished it...

'Oh, Apogee who claim to be great, how could you be so careless as to give me the power of the Fallen?'

It was a ridiculous mistake that they've made, converting me into one of their own by an incident.

Now I know that this was purely coincidental, a coincidence happening purely by chance of me usurping this body, a body which he had already designated as a pawn in his game.

"I now understand! That it wasn't their intention to mess with me! But it was merely a coincidence! The coincidence of me being reborn into this body!"

Eleysian looked at me with a spooked expression.

It was the expression that I would savor slowly as they revel in their failure, a failure that they didn't know was possible.

"There's nothing wrong with your plan, so doubt yourself no more... it was merely a coincidence that I came to this body, thus bringing you into this dreadful predicament!"

Eleysian was confused at my words that it was merely coincidental.

He knows of my memories, of my experience, of my personality, so how could he rule out this situation as merely coincidental when this monster before him could even fool almighty figures that were more powerful than the Apogee combined?

He knows that this situation wasn't purely coincidental.

This being before him who called himself Alister von Fai had already predicted and planned all of this since the very beginning.

He didn't believe the words that he spoke since he couldn't fully access the extent of his memories.

More than ninety-nine percent of his memories had been sealed in his space of consciousness.

It was a space of loss where time is dilated by a thousand times from the reality, and a place where you shall forget everything that you did inside of it once you leave the space.

  How fearful indeed.

Underestimating an existence as cunning as this bastard would mean certain death since he, whose intellect was beyond any could possess or ever anyone will be, was limited to a fraction of his former glory.

And even now, he couldn't underestimate him.

He pulled the mana on the atmosphere with the enlightenment that he gained from just gleaming at his memory as he watched his face, seemingly pondering about the seed of the Fallen yet again.

It was the proof that he was the pawn of the apogee a mere pawn to build the anchor that will connect the space of nothingness into the reality.

He sighed watching him ponder since now he could only wait for his judgment, at the moment where he shall perish.

Though he could still resist him, Eleysian did not do so since he knows that it was pointlessly futile to resist against this monster called Alister von Fai.

  "..."

I pondered deeply, watching the seed of the Fallen again.

Its contamination speed had sped up, and I couldn't understand why it was speeding up.

Did they perhaps notice me planning to contaminate the seed of the Fallen?

  How weird...

It can't be that the seed of the Fallen could read my mind and send my thoughts to the Apogee himself, but that shouldn't be possible since it is an impossible task to probe the thoughts of an Emperor itself unless you know how to read their intents.

Then did they decide to speed up the process of contaminating my demonic core after discovering that they pulled two souls into the space of nothingness?

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

It’s a plausible explanation for this situation... but there's a rare occurrence where a being is born with two souls or where a soul is split in two, and it could be called a split personality.

I creased my chin as I pondered about how complicated the situation had become... still, I was confident in my ability to distort the seed of the Fallen to my liking even if it had been completed.

  "Haaa..."

I shook my head since the complications of distorting the seed of the Fallen after it becomes complete would be more difficult than it is right now.

Maybe it will take a decade or worse, two, if something goes wrong.

'Let me rest, can’t you? Why is it that my task keeps getting longer the more I live and the more my plan progresses?!'

'Forget it, forget it! Just why couldn't I just split my mind into nine so one could do that and the others could do that?! I just wanted to lounge, eat some pear served by Samantha or a grapes feed to me mouth to mouth by her... oh how heavenly would that be with me lazing while I'm getting stronger by the second...'

I turned my head then glanced at Samantha who just waved at me with a smile at her face.

Then she bent her knees down as she berated her master while helping her draw the magic circle with a stern face.

"Master! This right here is wrong by a centimeter! Can't you get this done right?! Don't you know that I'll be the one to bear the risk if the transfer isn't successful and not you?!"

Ashin Sae Acoustine bit her lips then adjusted it as Samantha pointed at another line again, continuing her nagging as she sighed at how fast of a learner her disciple is...

'Teach her one and she learn ten, teach her a hundred and she learn a thousand... but why is she so naggy?! Can't she live without berating this poor master of her?!'

Ashin Sae Acoustine was frustrated at her disciple’s naggings but didn't speak since she would berate her more fiercely if she does.

But Samantha just continued her naggings without having the plans to stop anytime soon.

I shook my head since Samantha was still the same, a naggy wife in all the cycles I've spent with her, like a gatling gun raining you down with bullets if she's angry at you.

  Still, it was cute.

Her nagging was just too cute to see, it was nostalgic when she's angrily nagging at me.

It was lovely, her voice berating me, but now wasn't the time to immerse in her voice.

Since it was weird that even with the billions of lives that I've lived, the only thing that I discovered about them was that they are the Fallen and they live in the space of nothingness or just outside the multiverse.

It was as if they were an organization that doesn't tolerate any mistakes or leaves any behind, and that speaks volumes of how they could remain so secretive for ages.

Even with Eleysian, whose memories of them yield no insider knowledge about the Fallen... there wasn't even a plan, just a command from them telling him to gain strength that was strong enough to summon an anchor, which he didn't know what it was, too.

He was merely a pawn of the Fallen, a disposable pawn.

When discovered, he would be thrown away... it was a pitiful existence that I didn't even know why he was so loyal to them, even becoming a zealot when he didn't know their greatness or their grand plan.

It was worrying that the pawns of the Fallen would only know about this much... just how grand are their plan?

Just what cause are they propagating about?

Was it to summon the purple alien wearing the gauntlet with gems embedded in it then he would snap his finger saying 'it is inevitable,' or the tin man who snapped his finger saying 'die you dirty motherfucking purple alien!'

The question was, why did they choose Eleysian, who was nothing special?

While his battle instinct and adaptability from the memories that I shared to him was quite terrifying, still he was quite dumb after all of that.

Eleysian... his existence was nothing special, except his insane battle instincts that were completely rigged to the point that it was terrifying.

The only thing that I'm quite confused was his intelligence.

Though he was a terrifying combatant, his intelligence fell short of that.

He wasn't that smart, nothing like I'd expected from the Apogee anchor...

Unless there is more than him being the anchor of the Apogee... with their target being me...

It wasn't impossible for the Apogee to target me since subduing me doesn't just give him a powerful ally with strength rivaling his, and with the intelligence that was far too terrifying to fight.

"Apogee... oh Apogee... this little game of yours is becoming more and more interesting the more I delve into it... don't you think so, Eleysian?"

Eleysian was terrified by this man before him.

He wasn't just an arrogant mongrel that thinks he was above the Apogee but someone with the capabilities to back up his arrogance.

It was terrifying to discover only now that his memories was tampered.

He knows that he wasn't the great Harbinger of Myth, nor did he live a billion cycles at an infinite amount of time.

No, he knows that he was just an insignificant character, born as a mortal, a whark to his bone, chosen by the Apogee.

But before he was born, this being possessed his body and suppressed his soul...

It was infuriating that he, the original, was in this gunpoint where he knows that he would die, just from the memories that this man used to manipulate him to his will.

"How nauseating... that I, Eleysian... no, the nameless whark, had been living under the illusion... the illusion of me being a Fallen or me being the Harbinger of Myth... You who is the greatest villain of the multiverse... allow me to ask you... what is your goal?"

His question was unexpected, but a question that I would answer.

It was interesting that he who had only figured out that he was a mere pawn of this play wasn't in despair, but he was relieved to know that he wasn't someone so special.

"I pity you... who lived for an unknown of time solely focused on the goal of Ascendance... It is pitiful that you won't achieve it... while I, Eleysian, could rest in peace after I had experienced the wonder of life through you... I am satisfied at how my life ended... my only regret is that you are determined to head to the path of destruction."

He was satisfied the end that he'll meet.

Eleysian didn't despair that his whole existence was nothing special.

He was a clown, a pawn that his fate could dispose at any moment.

Through the memories that the Harbinger of Myth had shown him... even though he knows that he didn't experience it, still he was satisfied that he could see the history of the greatest villain of the multiverse, the one who tried to gain emotions at the expense of his sanity.

Eleysian was satisfied that he wasn't that being who chased something that was close to impossible, a vain attempt to feel alive...

He lowered his eyes then watched at his form losing their strength as the demonic core that kept him alive was no more...

It was at his hand, the rightful owner of this body... at the body that he usurped from him...

"This lowly one... is satisfied at my death, at the pointless death that I am receiving... I am not angry nor do I despair of my situation... I am merely grateful that you had decided to end me this early..."

He wasn't anyone special, nor does he carries the fate of something important.

He was an insignificant character, a side character of this person's story, and he was satisfied at it.

"To be a part of your story is an honor... take it, the gift, the first and last present that I'll give you..."

I smiled at the words that he muttered since the memories that I've shown him was a calculative move to obtain something of importance from him.

  ---

  "..."

It was interesting, an intriguing situation that he, Eleysian, had betrayed the purpose of his life, the purpose to served the Fallen, an unexpected move coming from a zealot like him.

I didn't want to sound too arrogant at the moment, but... Eleysian wasn't someone worth keeping, now or in the future, so I had no reason to keep him alive.

I know that stealing his body was cruel.

More so, killing him in cold blood just like now was even more cruel.

But I wasn't a being bound by morality.

I am Alister von Fai, a monster who will achieve Ascendance using any means, a villain worse than a demon.

  I sighed then confirmed it.
