Chapter 31
{ Talks About Lineage }
“You’re awake,” the father said, stopping the fight.
He was simple in appearance, but not in his eyes, which were deep and calm.
On the other side stood a woman of moderate beauty, with watery-colored hair resembling that of nymphs… though her beauty seemed slightly lacking.
“Thank you for helping me, but May I ask where I am… sorry, where are we?” Ian said politely.
“We have had the same question for twenty years,” the woman said as she looked at him. “Do you know how to cook?”
“Yes!”
“Good. There’s a bear in the back. Go and roast it. You won’t sit with us without working,” the woman said, then left.
“She’s angry again,” Lisa said.
The father nodded mockingly. “Don’t mind her… she just hates me.”
“Why… do you have another wife?” Ian smiled, trying to get closer to them.
“Another wife?? I wish. I wouldn’t have married her in the first place,” the man laughed.
“Dad,” Lisa said in annoyance.
“It’s the truth,” the man said. “What’s your name?” He extended his hand.
“Ian.”
“I’m Dooby, and this is my daughter Lisa, as I’m sure you already know… and the one who was here… that owl!!”
“Dad!” Lisa shouted.
“I mean that woman,” then he whispered, “That crow,” “my wife, Nour,” Dooby said mockingly.
“Dad… I heard you!” Lisa cried out.
Dooby laughed and did not reply.
“You’ve been here for twenty years?” Ian asked.
“I know you have many questions… come… come, let’s talk… Lisa, prepare some tea for us.”
“Alright,” Lisa left in a hurry, but forgot she was pulling Ian by the hand. “Sorry.”
“It’s fine,” Ian nodded.
“She’s just excited about having a new person here… especially someone who smiles. Tell me… your aura is strange… are you a Lord?” Dooby asked.
Ian was surprised, but did not deny it. “How did you know?”
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.
“There’s something special around you… I’m sure even that crow noticed it.”
“Daaaaaaaaaad!” Lisa’s loud voice rang out.
“It seems your daughter’s hearing is strong,” Ian said in surprise as he looked in the direction she had gone.
“She inherited both my strength and her mother’s, and gained a mutation in her lineage,” Dooby said.
Lineage… Ian was surprised and recalled the white tiger, then asked, “What is lineage?”
“Hmmmmmmmm… how do you want to learn about it?”
“From the beginning.”
“Alright… if you want to talk about the topic of lineage in depth, you must return to the birth of the world… to the pure beginning, where you will understand that the word lineage means the original ancestral abilities… such as the Phoenix’s fire, the Dragon’s magic, the Tiger’s lightning… or the Deer’s luck… or the mirage of the Nine-Tailed Fox… and others… even ancient humans and other races.
Lineage means their pure power with which they were born… a power that has nothing to do with training level, but rather something that grants raw strength… pure and absolute power. I know I’m bad at explaining, but I’ll try to simplify it for you.
“Lineage strengthens the blood, summons ancestral power, and grants unique innate traits… for example, if you inherit the Phoenix lineage, you will possess authority over fire… and the purer your lineage becomes, the greater authority you will have over that law, eventually becoming supreme.
The same applies to humans… lineage increases comprehension and allows the human body to ascend to horizons it never reached before, granting unique skills and traits that others cannot copy or learn… because the condition of lineage is missing.
Simply put, it is a return to the source… and the stronger the source, and the stronger your lineage, the greater the power.”
“But it has nothing to do with training?” Ian asked.
“Of course not. The Phoenix is born as the king of beasts… an absolute king. Lineage allows you to understand everything within it without the need to learn. As for training (cultivation), it only adds some polish to that lineage and provides another path.”
“Then how do I obtain one?” Ian asked.
“Marry someone who has it and sleep with her… like I did,” the man said jokingly, “or find an ancient inheritance… a reward from the world… there are many ways.”
“Beast Blood Seed,” Ian said.
“For humans, no… it would turn you into a beast. You wouldn’t be able to deal with the bloodlust within it and the madness of beasts… you would only lose your mind,” the man said.
“But the possibility exists,” Ian asked again.
“Hmmmmmm… it seems you’re thinking about something?” Dooby asked.
Ian nodded and did not deny it.
“Yes, the possibility exists… but don’t think of doing it unless you find a way to get rid of the madness within it. The word beastly in the Beast Blood Seed is not meaningless,” Dooby said. “But you should think… how will you get out of here first?”
Ian smiled sarcastically. “That’s exactly what I want to know as well… the only problem is… you’re telling me you stayed here for twenty years and didn’t find a way.”
“No, there is a way,” Dooby revealed.
Ian was startled. “Then why didn’t you leave?”
“Only one person can leave,” Dooby revealed. “That’s why we fight every day—who among us will take Lisa and leave.”
“Didn’t you say only one person leaves?”
“Yes… but if two people want to leave, the third must stay behind to keep the gate open for them. In other words… they must sacrifice themselves.”
“So you’re fighting…?”
“Yes… every day we argue over who will stay. That stubborn woman wants to stay, and I won’t allow that… and she won’t allow me to stay either. That’s why we’ve remained here for twenty years.”
“And Lisa?”
“Lisa… she’s the thing that helps us endure this narrow place.”
“The path is in the ship, isn’t it?” Ian asked.
The man nodded.
Ian fell silent and did not speak again. Instead, he stood up and headed toward the ship.
Dooby stared at his back and said nothing.
“Sorry… but I have people on my neck whom I must take care of,” Ian said.
Dooby did not reply.
“He left,” Lisa said as she arrived.
Dooby did not respond; he kept staring at Ian’s back in silence.
From afar, Nour was also staring at Ian’s back.
On the ship…
Ian arrived before the path.
A black-colored gate.
He did not know where it would lead… but this was the exit.
Sorry… but I have responsibilities.
