Chapter 2: Dean Grandma
As she walked on the road, Lin Jinghan finally found her childhood memories in her mind. This should have been after Director Nainai fell ill and lay in bed. She had overworked herself to take care of Nainai and her younger siblings until she fainted from exhaustion.
After carefully calculating the time, Dean's grandmother should have passed away three months later. Lin Jinghan couldn't help but clench her fists tightly. Three months? This time, she must cure Dean's grandmother's illness no matter what.
Heavenly Father, thank you, thank you for letting me live again, thank you for giving me the chance to cure Director's grandma, thank you!
She looked up at the azure sky and sincerely thanked in her heart, thanking the heavens she had previously cursed.
Looking at the old and worn-out door, Lin Jinghan's eyes became moist.
The director's grandmother, Lin Wanxin, lost her husband early on and never remarried. She had no children and lived alone in this not-too-big-not-too-small courtyard until she met Lin Jinghan.
One day, Lin Wanxin got up early to sweep the yard and found Lin Jinghan sleeping in the corner of her wall. Looking around, she didn't see anyone else, and seeing the little girl shivering pitifully in the cold wind, Lin Wanxin felt an extraordinary sense of pity, so she picked up Lin Jinghan and took her back.
What does a three-year-old know? Besides remembering that her name is Lin Jiehan, she only knows to cry and demand for daddy, mommy and brother.
Lin Wanxin looked at Lin Jinghan with pity, thinking that she had been abandoned by her parents. Moreover, Lin Jinghan was very cute and had the same surname as Lin Wanxin, making Lin Wanxin feel that heaven might have sent this lovely little angel to her in her old age, so Lin Jinghan stayed there.
Later, whether intentionally or unintentionally, Lin Wanxin picked up several more children at the gate of the courtyard. Gradually, this courtyard became the only orphanage in this small town, and Lin Wanxin became its director.
Lin Wanxin's life was not affluent, but she could make ends meet. Raising herself alone wasn't a problem, but after having several children, things became tough. However, Lin Wanxin never thought of abandoning them again. To cope, she lived more frugally and took on odd jobs or did handicrafts to earn money. Fortunately, the children were all well-behaved and considerate, making their difficult life warm nonetheless.
Until Lin Wanxin fell ill, the orphanage had only one adult, and Lin Jinghuan was the oldest among the children, who was only thirteen years old. Her family didn't have extra money to see a doctor, so they could only drag on like this, until she finally passed away.
Lin Wanxin's illness wasn't actually that serious, it started as just a cold, but without treatment, it gradually got worse and eventually she became bedridden, and Lin Jinghan was reborn at this time.
She pushed open the door and heard a suppressed cough inside. Lin Jinghan forced back the moisture in her eyes, she didn't want to worry Lin Wanxin, besides, she was already used to not shedding tears.
"Grandma!" The tone was very soft, as if afraid of disturbing the people inside.
"Cough, ah, Xiao Han, come in quickly, what are you standing at the door for, be careful not to catch a chill!" Lin Xinyin suppressed her cough and casually called out to Lin Jinghan, her concern evident in her words.
"Grandma, are you feeling better today?" Upon hearing Lin Wanxin's gentle scolding again, Lin Jinghan felt a surge of excitement in her heart. It had been so long since she'd heard Grandma's kind voice.
She walked quietly to Lin Wan Xing's bedside and sat down, reaching out to grasp the thin but warm hand, her eyes gazing carefully at the person on the bed, with a dazed expression.
Lin Wanxin still looked like the image in her heart, with short gray and white hair, even when she was bedridden, her hair was well-groomed, without any dishevelment. Her forehead was etched with wrinkles, a testament to the passage of time. Her eyes were slightly sunken due to illness, but they still shone brightly. Her straight nose and pale lips seemed to glow in the warm sunlight that streamed through the window, illuminating her face and highlighting her kind expression, exuding warmth and serenity.
"Girl, grandma is fine, she'll be okay in two days. You need to take good care of your brother and sister these two days, don't be too impatient, have some patience, got it?" Lin Wanxin didn't notice anything unusual about Lin Jinghan, just comforting her so she wouldn't worry, then reminding her, knowing that Lin Jinghan was a bit hot-headed and now entering the rebellious period of adolescence, always lacking a bit of patience with those kids.
"Yes, Grandma, I know you'll be fine!" Lin Yanxin said firmly, tightly holding Lin Wanxin's hand. She had been taking care of those kids for over a decade and had long since developed the patience.
"Hehe, good girl!" Lin Wanxin looked at this girl who seemed to have matured overnight and felt very comforted and proud. This was the girl she had raised! Patting Lin Jinghan's hand, Lin Wanxin thought that even if she were to let go now, Lin Jinghan should be able to live well on her own.
"Grandma, you rest first, I'll go get some food." Lin Jinghan saw the fatigue rising in Lin Xuanxin's eyes and quickly covered her with a quilt, letting her rest well. The current Lin Xuanxin was no longer able to withstand any disturbance.
Lin Wanxin was really tired and didn't try to hold on anymore, she closed her eyes obediently, but in her heart, she had some doubts. Xiaohan had become much more stable and her temperament had improved a lot, these were all good changes, Lin Wanxin didn't think deeply about it.
Lin Jinghan walked out of the director's grandmother's house, took a long breath in her heart, and then her heart became heavy again. She only had three months to find a way to make money, so that the director's grandmother could be hospitalized for treatment as soon as possible.
"Sister, is grandma okay?" a weak voice sounded from under Lin Jie's body.
Lin Jinghan looked down and saw that it was Keke, the youngest child in the orphanage, who was only five years old now. She was clever and lovely. Before Lin Jinghan's rebirth, Keke was still in high school, and she had to send her living expenses and tuition every month. It was unknown how Keke would be after Lin Jinghan's rebirth.
Oh well, never mind. Now that she's been reborn, she should make the most of this life and not live as miserably as she did in her past life.
Gathering her thoughts, Lin Jinghan squatted down, picked up Keke, and kissed her tender cheek, saying softly: "It's okay, Grandma will be fine." I promise.
"Go, sister will cook for you, is Keke hungry?"
"Hmm, cocoa is hungry." Children are always the most honest.
Headed towards the kitchen, passing through the courtyard, Keke was put down, and Lin Tianyi watched as Lin Jinghan went to the kitchen alone to cook.
Skilled in scooping rice, fetching water, rinsing rice, washing vegetables, lighting fires and stir-frying dishes.
But Lin Jinghuan suddenly stared wide-eyed, stunned, her face looked like she had seen a ghost, and she didn't even notice that the dishes in the pot were burnt.
What is this?
