I opened my eyes, to which I was greeted with nothing but complete and utter darkness. It was strange. I felt as if my eyes were open and yet it looked as if they were still closed. I blinked a couple times to confirm my suspicions and the scenery remained the same.
Eventually, after staring into the darkness for quite awhile, I began to see a white dot in the distance. The dot began to grow as it came closer and, although it took me a while to see it, it looked like a man. No, it didn't just look like a man, it was a man. He looked to be tall and lanky, wearing a full-white suit with a black tie and black belt. Every step he took seemed to be taken with a grace I had never before seen in my life. He had a stone look on his face as he was looking at me as if he was staring through me, looking at something beyond me. When I stared at his eyes I saw a black silhouette of myself staring back at me. I tried to open my mouth to speak to him only to discover my voice was not there.
The man sat down at a desk that I had not seen earlier. The desk was pitch black but his almost glowing white suit allowed me to see its silhouette. I tried moving forward to confront the man but found that I could not move. The man took out something that seemed to be papers from out of the desk and set it down.
"Final Judgement: Purgatory," spoke the man.
'Final Judgement: Purgatory?' I thought to myself, wondering what that could mean. I came up with many ideas of what was going on and at the same time many questions also popped up. Is that God? I'm dead right? Why Purgatory? I don't remember being particularly good or bad in the short time that I was alive. However, before I even got the chance to answer any of my questions, my consciousness fades.
When I awoke, I witnessed one of the most surreal scenery I had ever seen in my life. The ground was black, although, suffice to say, not as black as wherever I was before, it was more similar to coal in both color and texture. There was ground where the sky should have been and by simply looking straight ahead I saw what should've been the sky. However, rather than being blue, it was grey. There also didn't seem to be anything similar to the Sun here so I wonder how this place receives light.
'Is this Purgatory?' I wondered. Snapping myself awake from the amazement that I had lost myself in, I tried to get a grasp of my situation. First, my name is Cain and I went out for my morning run like I usually do. Then, I was kidnapped. I got to admit, I probably should have seen the signs. I mean the car was following me for quite a while and I was pretty suspicious of it. Well, nevermind that since I'm dead and all now. My parents should be able to take care of themselves. I hope they don't miss me too much. I mean after all I was planning on moving and leaving them after I graduated. I just didn't foresee that this was how I was going to leave them. Well anyways after all that, I was shot and then I met God. I think? Finally, he sent me to Purgatory for some reason and now I'm here.
'Why am I so close to the ground?' I asked myself. As I tried to stand up and found out that I couldn't. My legs were gone! My arms were as well! What the!
'Woah! What's this?' I said as I looked at the floating, glass-like screen that had appeared before my eyes. 'Debreater?' I had so many questions and no answers. 'What is a Debreater?'
'This thing answers me!? That's helpful.' Hmm, so you're telling me I'm this thing called a Debreater. Okay, okay. WHAT!! You expect me to take that lying down(I mean I am lying down but that's not the point)! Not only that but there are also bigger creatures here as well as creatures that want to eat me! I don't know if this is either really cool or really not cool. I mean I'm dead right? I can't die again, right? I should calm down.
A couple minutes later...
Alright then, now that I've calmed down a little, what else can you do blue, floating, glass thingy. As soon as I said that something pops up in front of me.
'Oh my god! It's a game menu in real life. Woah!' I stand(not really cause I can't stand) shooketh as I stare at the menu. I very quickly press [Character].
'Holy Cow! Is this real! This is pretty cool!' As I think to myself. I eventually lose myself in looking at my stats, 'Are those high or low I wonder. They look pretty high.' Also, I wonder what those question marks mean.
Due to me being so distracted, it surprised me even more when I finally realized that there was something that was casting its shadow over me. When I finally turned around, I saw a big black dog looking thing drooling over me. The dog had four completely white eyes, two being on each side.
