Budget RPG with demons pt6

For who longs how long, Jack was exploring hell, and saw no change in the scenery, which started unnerving him, a lot. It might have been a day, or a week, but he had no way to check the time, but it was of little to no importance, though he did sleep seven times, signifying it was around a week. He didn't meet a single demon for the duration, which made him think he actually stumbled upon the worm area, but still moved, or rather flew on. He was currently sporting a rather menacing look, as he no longer was a human, but a relatively big winged lizard, though if he were to look himself in the mirror, he would actually consider himself a cross species between a bat and a lizard. All due to the items he purchased.

He thought before purchasing these powers, but he decided to actually try and play the fantasy game as he was supposed to. With a classic protagonist cheat, which might have resulted in him becoming slightly overpowered. Though if he compared himself to the worm, he was still a weakling, that got insanely lucky with the well placed nuke. But he still didn't get the level, which he theorized could be a tutorial issue. Though he wasn't going to go unprepared, and had a few more technologically advanced items to turn the tide if shit hits the fan.

Still, even with this, he was much more resilient comparing to when he first woke up in the desert, though he didn't know if he should be comparing his health pools, as it might have been a trick, and in reality he would still be the same easily cut up human. But what he knew was that he could use the RX-309 without the power armor, even if he had to deploy it on on the ground first, mostly because it was unwieldy in his much smaller arms, but even then, the recoil wasn't much of an issue, at least in semi-automatic mode. It also looked quite comical when he used it.

Regardless, his current equipment was stored inside his inventory for the duration of the flight, as with his wing arms it was impossible to use his weapons, especially if his claws were preventing him from pulling the trigger. Half form however had no such limitations, but he didn't know why would he want to be half wyvern at the moment, it provided little to no benefits, unless it was melee combat, which only worked if he was going to be hit by something. Though he had to admit, the tail seemed like a nice addition to combat potential, if only he could use it.

The other addition was the new spells he managed to acquire through , which seemed to provide with one free spell for every 20 levels in a particular affinity. His current choices were quite limited however, but they were sort of free, and so he saw no reason not to acquire a few.

Water was actually quite important for him, as he won't need to buy any more from the shop. It was drinkable, with somewhat refreshing taste, but it took a lot of mana to produce even a single liter. For other spells, it was a no brainer as the Earth spells was either this or [Tremor], which would cause a minor earthquake in the area, while Air spell only had a single spell entry. For fire he could've gone with [Flame Tendril], but considering he already had one in darkness category, he decided against it.

As for the [Raise Dead] spell, he actually was curious if he would be able to bring corpses back to life, or unlife. He theorized if he could actually raise demons to fight other demons, he would actually always have a massive army behind him, and might even be able to take on another worm, or excavate it's remains, which is why he placed a mark and a beacon at the location where he converted some remains of the worm, despite it being contaminated with the radiation, most likely.

It also seemed that he will soon be able to raise a few demons, as he spotted a small group of black creatures traveling through the desert. On closer examination, they seemed to be insect like demons, sporting matte black carapaces, but traveling on their four triple jointed limbs, with their head resembling that of a parasitic xenomorph, with a long tail with a stinger on it's end, held close to their body. He would call them Scorpions, if not for the lack of limbs and oddly shaped bodies.

Jack shrugged as he traveled on an elevated position and transformed into a human, before quickly equipping his armor and taking aim with RM-369. He fired the demon in the leading position, and much to his surprise, the demon wasn't killed immediately, instead, it shrieked and all the group came to a hold, before spotting him, though he didn't know how, as they lacked eyes, or at least they weren't visible.

Quickly switching to grenade launcher, Jack took aim at the tightly packed group and delivered a highly flammable payload, which managed to quickly spread amongst the demons and engulf them once again in white flames. Jack still didn't understand why the fire was white, as phosphorous combusted into the more or less normal flame upon contact with air. Still, he didn't let it bother him for long, as there were still demons running straight at him.

His second grenade managed to hit a group of three, causing a massive head wound on the leading demon, but barely damaging it's escorts. It seemed that for some reason the shrapnel of the HEDP round didn't damage the demons, but the concussive blast did send them tumbling on the sand. Jack sighed and used the second HEDP grenade, before getting phosphorous grenade from his inventory and quickly loading one in, and shooting the remaining group, this time only hitting two demons as the rest decided to spread out.

Cursing, Jack stored his armor and weapons in the inventory, changed his form to that of a wyvern and took flight. He had an air superiority against these particular demons, and started circling around the bound by the inferiority targets, which had no way of reaching him, as Jack used his [Combustion] spell on them, with a few [Dark Tendrils] casted here and there, which lashed at the nearest demon, though with little effect. Unfortunately, demons weren't as dumb as he thought them to be, and tried to flee from combat. Even if the demons were more intelligent than Jack gave them credit for, it still didn't mean they were smart enough to have any countermeasures against the flying enemies, except for leaving behind a few sacrifices, to sate his appetite.

Without thinking much on the matter, Jack dived in on the closest demon, before lifting it in the air and chomping on it. Much to his annoyance, wyvern teeth couldn't penetrate the carapace, but he managed to bite off it's tail. The demon however thrashed in his mouth, damaging his teeth and tongue. Considering the situation, Jack activated on the creature, causing it to lose strength at a rapid pace and eventually dying, before getting converted to credits.

Jack sighed. It wasn't much for such demons, considering he wasted 500 SC to kill two with the HEDP grenades, and 800 to kill the rest with white phosphorous, not to mention 4 credits he wasted on attempting to kill one with his rifle. He decided against pursuing the three remaining demons, and instead convert the rest.

Flying back to the remains of the demons and landing, Jack was immediately assaulted by a terrible stench premanating the place. The Scorpions had green liquid leaking from their corpses, which tasted plainly horrible, at least the ones that were burned, but he couldn't say if others were the same, as the stench was plainly horrifying. Jack quickly retreated and equipped his armor, before coming back with his mask filtering out the stench.

Jack was surprised by the first demon he converted. It almost gave him a thousand credits. The other one killed with the HEDP grenade was the same, but not those killed by fire. They provided him with around 700 SC each, ending with him gaining 12'771 credits from the encounter. If he were to remove the cost of the ammunition, he still had over 10K of income from this little battle. And if he were to check his points, he would no doubt get another surprise.

“40... points? From this trash? Alright, I am curious.” Jack said looking at his gains. “Though... did I just enter the end-tutorial area? I just hope I won't get any more worms. I will need like seven more groups of these things to afford another core.”
