Ch. 5 Tension in the Elevator

"Anon's curious about me! Anon wants to know more about me!" she excimed. "Ahh~, this is bliss..."

She cupped her cheeks in her hands, a spring in her step. Miya was eted.

I pressed the button to open the elevator. We went in, and I selected my floor.

  "So, answer me?"

"Oh! I'm twenty-one. We're the same age, Anon! I don't attend college because that'd just be a repeat of my experience with school, and I already mastered everthing they teach there. Uh... I'm sorry I lied about going to your college, Anon."

I opened my mouth to call her out on that cim, but she cut me in.

"But that was then! Now, I'll definitely go with you! If you still want to study, that is."

"You've got to be kidding me. About mastering all the college courses, I mean."

"You'll see for yourself~" she smirked.

"Anyway, no more violence and damage outside! Please, just keep a low profile! At least when we're out."

Her radiant smile subsided a bit.

"...I read your stories, you know? I memorized them all, they're so good!"

She brought her mouth close to my ear and whispered a passage from one of my stories.

"Anya held the ravenous tigers aloft in a bearhug. She brought her arms closer and closer until she heard a loud pop; she had just broken their ribcages. Soon after, the tigers went limp in her arms. It was on this day that she put an end to the killing spree of the man-eating tigers of Meerut."

I had to avert my eyes.

"Hehe, Anon writes so well... And Anon really likes it, and so I won't stop doing it," she said with a pout. The contrast between her cuteness and the power she so freely yielded was frightening, but I couldn't hide my embarrassment.

  "Look! You're beet-red, Anon! Hehe, so cute~"

"It's fiction, not real life. There's a huge difference. And she only killed them for the greater good," I finally said, regaining some composure.

She stared at me in disbelief.

"The stories you wrote are what you wish you'd witness in real life. This is beyond clear to me and you, Anon," she announced matter-of-factly, and added, "Shoehorning morals into your stories is only something you do because it appeases your conscience. Deep down, you don't give a damn about that. Am I wrong, Anon?"

I never thought I'd hear someone say that with a smile. I lowered my gaze to focus.

"I mean, okay, I love it. A part of me craves to see what you're capable of. To witness your power over and over again, to see just how strong you are. But only if you make it safe. Go somewhere barren and demonstrate your might against nature without harming anyone. People, and animals for that matter—they're just like us because they can suffer like we do, even if that's not something you understand. Whether these beliefs are superficial or not, I stand by them."

She beamed but chuckled at my st words.

"Sadly, I can't. The police are on our tracks already. That wouldn't be a problem if it was just me, but this time you're involved. People saw you firing that gun, remember? I would have been fine with your request, even with the concession of not killing anyone. But the so-called authorities will find you eventually. And I will NOT allow them to put you behind bars, Anon."

"So, you're saying... that you want to kill two birds with one stone?"

A Cheshire grin split across her face.

"Yes, Anon. I will go all the way out, and there won't be any turning back."

A chill went down my spine.

She closed the space between us, lowering her lids more and more.

"I'll show you what I'm reeeally capable of~," she said in a low, sultry voice.

The implications she was making now dawned on me. I was roped into this with her. I was now a criminal against my own will.

"Thanks to this, you will soon be madly in love with me, just like I am with you. You can't fight fate, Anon. Nor can you fight me~" She cooed, giggling in girlish glee.

She cupped my face in her hands, holding me steady, drinking in the sight of me. Miya nearly undressed me with her wandering eyes. I blushed; there was no denying her beauty.

But this sudden shift in personality was troubling, even more so after what she'd done earlier. She wasn't of sound mind, so I had to stay on high alert for any bad omens.

"You can't stop them from shooting me, you know? I need to find a shelter somewhere while you do your... thing," I decred sheepishly.

  Her smugness deepened.

"Silly Anon, of course I can do that! And I want you to be nearby at all times. I want you to see everything."

I was about to protest at her crazy suggestion, but her demeanor shifted right then. She pcated me, her gaze so severe my words got lost in my throat.

I was pinned against the wall. Miya's left hand cmped my wrists above me. She touched my chin, raising my head to match hers.

"You will NOT get hurt. I promise not even a bruise will ever come to smear your beautiful skin, Anon."

I hadn't expected such authority and power in her voice, and the sharp resolve in her deep red eyes doubled it down. I felt like prey. She had the stare and aura of an apex predator on the verge of pouncing. Looking down, I nodded meekly. Fear had returned, and I tried to repress the shaking in my body.

The state I was in suddenly dawned on her. Blinking twice, she loosened her grip and caressed my left cheek.

"I am sorry, Anon. I just had to take care of your trifling concerns. Please never doubt my judgment. Your girlfriend always knows best. Keep that in mind~" she whispered before gently kissing my forehead.

"I'll remember, promise. But, Miya... please don't do that ever again. I was about to piss myself there," I decred, still shaking. The level of assertiveness and command she could exert on a whim was scaring the hell out of me.

"Shhh. Come here." she held me close.

"Never doubt me again, and I will never do that again. Okay, Anon?"

I nodded. Realizing the elevator had stopped on my floor for a while, I took Miya's hand and stepped out. I heard her cute, happy sounds in response to my initiative.

"I guess you want to see my room first. My pce is a bit cramped; sorry about that." I led her into my bedroom.
