. . . . .
However, a simple solution came to mind. Why don't I just terrorize the neighboring city instead? The next day, I simply went to Yokohama City and began my terror once again. I killed a few couples again in a week. It was satisfying, but this time, after only a week, the city had issued the same warnings and procedures as Tokyo, so I simply went and moved on to another one. Now I have moved on to Chiba City.
I spent another full week in Chiba before the same warnings were issued. This time, I moved on to Saitama City. I spent yet another week there and immediately moved on again when the same things happened. But to confuse them, I came back to Tokyo city once more to surprise them because I knew for a fact that some people would lower their guard when they found out the same warnings had been issued in other cities. Plus, the fact that there have been 0 new victims in the city. THIS IS PERFECT!!! HAHAHHAAHHAHAA!!!
I found a young couple that suddenly walked towards a narrow alley in the city. The narrow alleyway was only able to fit three adult men if they were standing side by side, and even then, they would be squeezing against each other. I followed them secretly, knowing full well what their intentions were.
This is perfect. I am so excited for this one!
I followed them silently. Then I saw them from quite a distance, and they started hugging. I transformed my feet and started jumping forward, and I've reached their location almost instantly. The moment I landed very close to them, they were startled because of how loud the sound of my silver feet landing was. I also cracked the land and a bit of the wall because of how narrow it is.
"Good evening, my poor victims!!"
"Wh-Who are you?" the boy asked.
The boy also turned around and stood in front of his girl to cover for her.
"Well, basically, I'm the serial killer that's been hunting couples who isolated themselves in isolated places! I'm so surprised you guys are here, given how the news said that even when you're at home, you're not safe! I guess the saying that young people are dumb is correct, huh?"
Before they could even react, I instantly bashed their heads away at the same time, with just one swing of my silver punch. They instantly died, and their headless bodies dropped to the ground.
. . . . . .
I made a mistake. I ended their life too quickly. I didn't get to feel the satisfaction of seeing their despair. This might be risky, but today's special. I'll hunt down another couple.
After jumping around the city, building to building, rooftop to rooftop, I finally found a special couple. It was one of my friends back at college. One of the ones who's been dating since back in high school.
This should be. . .NOSTALGIC!!!
I followed them around as always, silently and quietly. And then they went to a neighboring area and entered one of the houses there. I waited for a bit while checking for any CCTVs or whatnot. But when I decided to act, they suddenly left the house again, so I followed them patiently. They went back to the city. I continued to follow them, and then they suddenly took a turn towards a narrow alley. This felt all too familiar since I just killed a couple in a similar alleyway. I guess the only thing's gonna be different this time is that I get to watch them and give them trauma since they knew me.
I followed them to the alleyway, and again, they started hugging, so I, in the same fashion as previously, landed purposefully loudly near them. They were startled and immediately turned around, and were beyond shocked when they saw me.
"NEO?"
"N-NEO? YOU'RE NEO, RIGHT?"
". . .Correct! How long has it been, you guys?"
"Wow, Neo!! You haven't been showing up on campus. What happened?"
"On that note, where's Karin? I haven't seen her either. It's been ages!"
". . . .I have some terrific news for you two!"
"What is it? Did you ditch college and just decide to focus on a job to get married?"
"Wow, that would be kinda sweet!!"
". . . .AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! WROOOOOOONG!!"
They were kinda startled seeing my loud laughter. They also just realized my demeanor was completely different from how it was back in college.
"You two know about the serial killer who only killed couples in isolated places?"
This text was taken from Royal Road. Help the author by reading the original version there.
"Yes? What of it?"
"I AM THAT GUY!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!'
*!!!*
They were both startled by my confession.
"N-Neo? You? That Neo is the serial killer?"
"Oh, c'mon, Neo! There's no way! This is a prank? You wanna give us a surprise gift, right?"
I transformed both of my hands into silver and showed them.
"So, these are my newly profound Faith power. This power is how I have been able to kill all those couples without leaving so much evidence! You two read the news, right? They all died of some kind of massive force, correct?"
I prepared my right silver hand into a fist.
"LET ME DEMONSTRATE HOW I KILLED MY VICTIMS!!"
I swing my silver fist with full force.
"KYAAAAAA!!!"
"NEO STOOOOOOPPP!!!
*!!!!!!*
All of a sudden, I was stopped. My right hand was in the middle of swinging, and something caught it and stopped it.
"W-What is this?"
I looked to my right and saw ice formations suddenly appear out of nowhere and trap my right hand and half of my body inside. The sheer cold of the ice breaks apart my silver transformation into pieces. My Faith power has been compromised by its one and only weakness.
"WHO DID THIS? SHOW YOURSELVES!!!"
I felt someone's presence behind the ice, a bit away from me.
"You two, please get out of here. I'll handle this guy."
I heard a girl's voice; she sounded monotone. My two friends' couple immediately obeyed her commands and left.
TCH! WHO THE FUCK IS INTERFERING ME?
I transformed my left hand into silver and punched the ice that trapped half of my body, and it instantly broke apart. I regained full control over my body again. My punch earlier has completely broken the entirety of the ice in the alleyway.
"So, you're the serial killer I've been hearing about? Seriously, how pathetic is this crime? You’re oozing so much envy that I can see it from afar. What kinda----!!!"
The girl stopped talking midway.
*!!!!*
I finally got a glance at the owner of the girl's voice, and not in a million years would I've expected who I saw.
"Sen. . .pai?"
"Kou. . .hai?"
I. . .
It's been so long. . .
She completely disappeared from my mind a long time ago. I was so focused on building a future with. . . the former Karin.
Yuki. . .
I. . .
". . .I get it." said Yuki calmly.
*?*
"You're an impostor, right? Because there's no way Neo-senpai is the serial killer going around killing couples. He's not that type of person."
Yuki tapped the ground with her right foot, and the entire alleyway was frozen. She also summons two tall knights next to her, holding a giant axe.
"Tell me, what happened to the real Neo-senpai??"
Yuki was angry. I can hear her angry words, but her facial expression and tone were neutral the whole time, even when we first took a glance at each other. Something about her feels different, or the word I'd prefer, wrong.
"Kouhai. . .if I was an impostor, would I have called you 'Kouhai' the first time we saw each other just now? If I were an impostor, I wouldn't even know who you were."
". . . ."
Yuki was shocked, although her face didn't show it. The two tall knights she summoned cracked and crumbled into pieces. I am confused as to why she never changes her facial expression. She looks completely different from the Yuki I knew, who's always so expressive with her emotions. Though her appearances are still the exact same, just a little bit taller.
Yuki walks towards me slowly. I, in turn, walk towards her slowly. We finally stand directly against each other. She touched my right cheek with her right hand, and I touched her right cheek with my right hand as well. And then we each shed tears towards each other.
"What happened to you, senpai?"
"What happened to you, kouhai?"
We said those words at the same time towards one another. In the sky above, thunder suddenly roars, and then rain falls. Yuki summons a small igloo in the middle of the alley to protect us both from the rain.
We both sat down next to each other inside the igloo. We both started questioning one another. First, Yuki told me about how she lost her ability to express emotions after what happened to her sister and her parents.
I was shocked and at a loss for words. I also looked towards Yuki, and she was silently and expressionlessly crying. I embraced her head and patted her multiple times without uttering a single word. I also shed my tears as I hugged her.
She kept telling me over and over about how much she loves her big sister and her parents. She also told me over and over about how she regrets losing herself to anger and killing her parents. She also told me how she wished she could've done so much more for her big sister. She kept blaming herself for what happened to her. She kept dreading this path of regret every day afterwards.
It took her a while until she finally told me she was fine and felt better.
Then she asked me the same questions. I began shedding my tears as I told her everything. My tears never stopped during the entire time I told her of what happened between me and Karin. She embraced my head and patted my hair multiple times nonstop. She also didn't utter a single word. I also felt wet droppings on my shoulder and neck. She was also crying for me in silence.
I kept telling her about how much I loved Karin. I kept telling her about how much I miss her gentle acts. I kept telling her how much it hurt when I found out about her betrayal. I kept telling her about how painful it is to look back on everything that happened. I kept telling her about how much I wished things would've played out differently. I kept telling her about how I wished she would've told me the reason why she would even betray me. I kept telling her how I felt empty because I couldn't even get any revenge on them.
I cried while I kept gripping Yuki's shoulders with my hands. And after a few minutes, I finally stopped.
"Kohai, we both became Believers, yet we both used our powers for completely different purposes. I'm ashamed, Kouhai! I have not been a good person. I let hatred get the better of me. I killed a lot of innocent people for my selfish desire."
". . . ."
Yuki stands up. She walks and stands in front of me.
"Then, senpai! Do you want to change all of that? Instead of doom, let's walk a path of Salvation!"
Yuki offered me her open hand.
"Kouhai. . . but I. . ."
"Neo-senpai, do you wanna become my Support?"
I don't understand the meaning of the word 'Support' that Yuki used. It felt and sounded like a completely different word from the actual word 'support'. I have no idea what it is or where it will take me. But hearing her words, I felt saved. I feel like she's giving me a new purpose in life. So, I took her offering by hand, and that was the beginning of my life as the 4th Judge Support.
A path full of pain and struggle, yet it helped and saved people from their doom. A path that leads me to the Creator of the Universe, the One True God Himself. The God who appointed Yuki as the Judge of Envy. Looking back, this was the best decision I've ever made in my life.
