Ved was suddenly awoken due to the sound coming from his alarm
“Haaah, so tiring..” He grumbled. Setting up an alarm on weekends was not his thing, but they were supposed to go camping today. He slowly got up from his bed while scratching his eyes and achieving a big Yaaaawn~ "Sigh.. Why did it have to be today?" He contemplated. The camping was supposed to start last week during school days. It's just like getting sick on weekends, only to have it healed when school starts. "Seriously, can't I just have a break?!" He yelled, protesting against his imaginary enemy, the air.
"Anyways, what's passed, has passed. Nothing you can do about it," shrugging his shoulders as he went inside the bathroom and got ready to go.
"Phew! Let's seee, what do I wanna bring? Clothes, check! Water, check! Hmmm.. What else.." He wanted to be ready for anything but there's only so much he could carry. "Meh, I'll just leave it to them." Feeling satisfied with the things he brought, he quickly packed up the things and went to their meetup spot.
As he was walking, he heard someone call out his name behind him.
"Hey Ved! Wait up!" He turned around only to see his friend panting with his hands on his knees, seemingly out of breath. "Yknow, you should start eating less and start exercising some more," he said as he examined Bob's state. "Oh, shut up, I can't help it! Jeane's cooking is just sooo good!" He rebutted. "Hmmm, fair enough." Nodding his head, acknowledging that Jeane's cooking tasted divine. Hell, he even felt a tad bit jealous of Bob for being able to eat his cooking every day.
As far as he knows, Bob always had quite the voracious appetite, which had only amplified when Jeane, an exceptional chef, became Bob's roommate. Jeane loved to cook for others, too! Even more so when cooking for Bob, as Bob would buy the ingredients and wash the dishes for him.
"Say, will Jeane ever come?" Jeane was always busy with his work, but a part of him hoped that he would come Definitely not for his cooking, yup, definitely. "Nah, he's not able to join us sadly," He said, feeling disappointed. "But, I did get these though," Grinning as he showed a bag to Ved. " Is that what I think it is?" He said, raising one of his eyebrows. "Yep! The one and only! Jeane's specialty cookies!" He said, acting all smug about it. "Uuuoooooo~ Glorious Cookies! Thank you, Jeane!" Ved said as if praying to god himself.
"Hey hey, you should be thanking me as I've persuaded Jeane to bake more than ever," Humph* he said as he faced the other direction while crossing his hands.
"Oh, thank you for your benevolence, High and mighty Bob. I thank you for gracing me with these divine cookies."
"Hmmmm.... Too late! these cookies are mine now mwahahaha" he said as he stormed off giddily.
What seemed to be a pleasant morning. Just two friends chatting together while walking towards the meetup spot until...
"Bob!!" Ved screamed at the top of his lungs, alerting Bob to the danger that was to come. And then, suddenly, blood splattered everywhere. Ved saw his friend get run over by a speeding car. The car swerved when it struck Bob and then proceeded to hit Ved in the process. Leaving him dead.

Ved opened his eyes and saw a bright area filled with lots of people appearing and then disappearing. Before he could even collect his thoughts, his vision darkened instantly and then lost consciousness.
Bob, who was once skipping while holding his cookies, remembered a scream from his friend and the pain that came afterwards, woke up in a strange white space with thousands of people everywhere suddenly appearing and disappearing. "Wha- What is this place?! What happened?! Am I dead?" Bob, who was feeling confused after all that had happened, saw a strange being that appeared in front of him.
"Relax, child, do not be alarmed. You might have a lot of questions right now, but one thing's for certain: you have died. You have two choices: continue to live in another world or cease to exist. The choice is yours."
"W- Wait a minute, first of all, who are you? Second, where is my friend? What exactly happened? Did I die?! Tell Me!?" Bob, feeling an intense rage building up inside of him, as all of these were quite strange to him. Him, dead? What about his family, his friends? What will happen to them?
"We are simply beings that oversee the souls of the dead. As for what happened in the mortal plane, we do not know. You have died." The strange being said. "Time's up, soul has not yet chosen. randomizing choice." As if on cue, a ding~ sound could be heard, and then, "Soul will continue to live, commencing"
"Wait! What's happening to m-" His words suddenly got cut off as what seemed like a magic circle sprang up under his feet, and his vision darkened. The last thing he saw was a person suddenly appearing beside him, and then his consciousness went out.

I am walking towards the road by the mountain. “Heheh, I’m so smart. I told them that I forgot my stuff on the bus, and they just let me go without helping them set up the tents. Hahahaha!”
I walked towards the mountain that has roads built on it. “I should be able to hide from them above this mountain. This way, I should be able to slack off and play on my phone. Nice! Good job me!” As I was reaching the top, a car suddenly ran me over. I felt pain all over my body and my vision went black. The car didn’t stop though, It kept on going and ran past the wooden fence on a mountain road and fell.
I, Garret Sullivan, died on this day, April 19, 2025, Saturday. I have lived a fulfilling life with lots of friends and loving parents. I have lived my life blithely.
“H- huh? What happened? I- I’m alive?” I clearly remember the pain of getting run over by a car. I am in some kind of white space with so many people around, appearing and disappearing. “I- is this heaven? Who are these people?” As I said that, a white being with wings just appeared in front of me and said two words, "Another World". A magical circle then appeared below me, and my vision went black. Before my vision went black, though, I saw a person appear beside me.

“Haaah, so tiring..” I woke up to the sound of my alarm ringing in my ears. I don’t typically set the alarm on weekends, but we were supposed to go camping today. I don’t want to go, but it’s graded after all. I am a university student with decent grades to maintain my scholarship. I don’t have any friends and I rarely talk to other people. The only time I talk to them is to ask questions. I got up and packed up the things I needed, which were extra clothes, food, and water. I don’t have a lot of things, and I also don’t have a phone. The laptop that I have was given by the school, and I don’t want to bring it in case it gets broken. I took a quick shower, dressed up, ate breakfast, and left my apartment.
I’m walking towards our meeting spot, which is the house of our professor. Luckily, it’s close to the place where I live. I saw all of my classmates there already getting ready, some were sitting inside the school bus. It seems I’m the last one to arrive. I quickly went inside the bus and sat on one of the empty seats by the window with no one beside me, and slept.

When I woke up, I found out that I was the only one left inside the bus. It seems that we have arrived at our location but no one even bothered to wake me up.
Damn, what should I do now? Where is everybody?
The bus was parked on the road beside the forest which has roads in it going up in a zigzag-like pattern.
I walked towards the forest with my stuff to look for them. I walked for quite some time, and then I realized that I was lost.
I should've stayed inside the bus and waited for somebody to arrive. Damn.
Since I don’t know where I am, I continued walking until I heard a sound in the distance. I quickly ran towards the sound but then a car suddenly crushed me from above. I appeared in some white space with someone beside me but then my vision suddenly went black.
I, Ved Gerrard, died on this day, April 19, 2025, Saturday. I have lived a boring and stressful life. My parents are so obsessed with perfection, and my education greatly impacted me. I haven’t been able to have friends because I was pressured to keep on studying.
“Wh- what?” I was so surprised because I suddenly arrived in some kind of white space with someone beside me, but then my vision went black.

My vision suddenly went back and I saw stalagmites and stalactites around me, I also saw an opening at the front with blue light coming in.
“What the hell?! What happened?? Where am I?!” I was so shocked that I fell down on the ground.
“What was that being? An angel? He said another world and just sent me here without any time to prepare?! What about my parents?!? My friends?!” I complained about my predicament, and then I cried my heart out.
Uwaaaah- Sob*, sob* sniff*
I am alone in this place without anyone to talk to, and I don’t know what to do.
I shouldn't have run away. I should've just helped them set up the tents, then maybe I wouldn't have died! I’m so stupid!
I kept on complaining in my head, but there's nothing that I can do now. What’s done is done. I then kept on crying some more .---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I felt my(?) Mouth moving, but it wasn't me!
I was so scared because I couldn’t move and I could feel my(?) mouth moving, but I’m not even doing anything!! I could feel tears coming out of my(?) eyes. I could hear myself(?) crying and sniffing loudly.
I am really scared right now, I don’t know what’s happening, everything happened so fast. “What happened?? I was transported to some white space but then I suddenly found myself in this place but I couldn’t even control my(?) body.” I pondered on what could've happened and came up with a theory.
I died, yes. I was transported into some white space but then my vision suddenly went black. There was someone beside me. What if that someone is the one that should be transported here and I was just caught up in the process. When my vision went back, I saw some stalagmites and stalactites and also an opening which signifies that I am inside the cave. I also felt myself falling down and heard the words “What was that being? An angel? He said another world...”
I tried speaking, but no words came out of my(?) mouth.

I was taken aback when I heard the voice. “Wh- who are you?! A- are you God?” I spoke with shaking in my voice as I looked around me and saw no one around me.
/No, I'm not god, haha. My name is Ved, It seems that we both got transferred to this world. Although I am stuck inside this body, which you are controlling right now./
My blood ran cold when I heard him say that. “H- how are you so calm?? Don’t you miss your friends?? Your family??” I lashed out at him. Although he hasn’t done anything bad, it just infuriates me that he sounds so calm, even though we died and left our loved ones back on Earth.
/I don’t have any friends on Earth. I hate my parents, and I hate my life. All I did in my life was study. I have greatly wished to be sent to another world. My wish was granted, true, but I couldn’t even enjoy what life had to give me, as I couldn’t even do anything except talk to you. I simply got over my old life, that's all/
Huh... He must've lived a sad life... “You must have someone you love, right? Something that makes you want to go back, right?” I tried asking him.

I couldn’t help but cry out some more because he lived a much harder life than I, and yet I kept on complaining about my situation.

/Wh- why are you crying? Did I do something?/ Ved said as he was scared that he might have hurt his feelings. “Damn, I was a bit elated that I get to talk to another person but I made him cry instead! Stupid me!”
“No, it’s fine. You didn’t do anything. I was just sad that you went through so much stuff” I said while wiping away my tears. “I’m sorry for making you worried, what was your name again?”
“Are you serious? I just said my name a couple of minutes ago.” I shook my head mentally and said /My name is Ved Gerrard, nice to meet you./
“Ved... ved, ved, ved… Your name sounds so familiar… Have I met you before?” I asked him. I seem to have heard his name from somewhere but I couldn’t remember.
/Weellll… Not exactly, I joined the camping trip that Professor Jack planned. If I remember correctly, you were that guy who always avoided doing work and kept on getting into trouble/
“Wh- whaaa? I’m your classmate?? And what do you mean by always avoiding work? If I remember correctly, I’ve always been the guy who does the most work in class, I guess. By the way, you were there?? I didn’t hear anyone say your name at the camp, though… Wait… I think I heard your name get called by the professor when he checked attendance when we were riding the bus.”
/Oh... I was asleep inside the bus. I didn’t realize that he was checking attendance. Damn. Oh well, what’s done is done. Also, no one even bothered to wake me up though. Why is that?/
“Huh? Where were you sitting? We didn’t find you.” I inquired him

“That’s weird, we didn’t see anyone...”

“O- oh.,” I said disconcerted.
I am a bit hungry after all that talking and we’ve also been staying here for quite a while talking about stuff. “A- anyway, what should we do now? I am a bit hungry, and we have no food.” I asked him. He said that he has been studying for his whole life so he must be smart. Plus, he’s so composed, unlike me, who almost had a mental breakdown. I’m glad that I have someone to talk to or else I might have gone crazy.
/For now, we should explore this place for a little bit. We need to find food and water. That's our main priority./
“Alright then.” I slowly got up on my legs and went outside of the cave. There, we saw trees. Lots and lots of trees that make you unable to see the sky above. This place is a bit dark with the glowing mushrooms both big and small, sticking out of some of the trees which have some black polka dots. There are so many vines hanging on the branches of the trees. There’s also a yellow bird perched from one of the very tall trees far away from where we are currently at. “Heh, that bird kinda looked like Zapdos from pokemon” or so I thought. There's also a green blob? Something that looks like a messed up slime that has bubbles popping out of it which produced the sound ssss~. There are some bears with black lightning marks on their fur. There are also some purple rabbits with a horn on their forehead.
“This place looks like something straight up from a video game! Look! There are even slimes! Although it’s not as I was quite expecting. That thing looks disgusting!" I said, scrunching up his face.
"I wonder if there’s something like a status screen in this world. That would be so cool right?” I then proceeded to shout "STATUS OPEN!"
Suddenly two blue screens appeared in front of us.

"Woah! There really is one!" I said ecstatically when I saw the screen appear in front of me. "Why are there two status screens, though?" I said tilting my head to the side.
/The second one should be for me. Huh… My theory was right, I am living inside you like a second mind like what my race says on the status screen/
“I guess you’re right. Let’s see… Hey, wh-” I was about to ask when Ved suddenly cut me off and said, /Shush! Stop talking. That bear just saw us and is coming straight towards us. He must’ve heard you yell status screen. Go back inside the cave! Now!./
"Whe-" I tried asking him but then I heard a road from a distance.
Roaaaar!!
/Run, RUN!/ He yelled inside my head and hurried me. The bear ran so fast and was catching up to us. /RUN FASTER! HE’S CATCHING UP!/ He hurried me more. “IM TRYING!” I screamed out loud. My heart, beating fast, and my legs, shaking. I panted for air as I ran, but then the bear’s claw grazed my back.
I wanted to scream, but no words flowed out of my throat. I haven’t felt pain this much, and this is the first time I have ever shed blood. My back hurt so badly, but I still kept on running, fueled by adrenaline. but then I tripped on one of the roots of the trees.
“I- I’m gonna die.” I peed myself and tears came out of my eyes. The bear stood in front of me and roared on my face as he raised his claw to attack me

The claw was nearing on my face but then it stopped as we heard a screech
Screeeee-!
I felt a tingling sensation like I was electrocuted and then some blood splattered on my face and my mouth. I smelt something like burnt meat. I saw bits of the charred carcass of the bear in front of me and a yellow bird carrying the blackened body of the bear towards the very tall tree far away from us.
Everything happened so fast. I was so scared that my whole body started shaking uncontrollably, and I fell on the ground. Goans of pain and exhaustion seeped into my being then I vomited on the floor.
Bluuurgh- Bleeuuurghh-
I vomited everywhere while crying my heart out and then I fainted.
/Garett! Are you okay?! hey Garret! GARRET!!/ “damn! He’s unconscious! Damn! There might be some monsters who would come here. Dammit! Dammit! I don’t want to die! If Garett dies, then I would die too. There should be something I could do. Something!!” I remembered seeing mana manipulation on my status screen, I should be able to use magic right?? The problem is how?! I don’t know how to use magic! Think Ved think! Most of the novels I read about people getting isekai’d and training magic is to feel the surroundings. Alright, alright, alright...”
I tried getting a feel of my surroundings and noticed the strange feeling that I felt beside me, where the bear should have been. I pondered to myself, Is this mana? This feeling is so strange. It feels like I was inside the water, but there’s no water. I tried getting a feel of it, and it seems like I could control it however I want to. “Yep, this must be it! I tried imagining it moving around, and it moved! I seem to be able to control it however I want, it must’ve been thanks to mana manipulation. My head kinda hurts though whenever I force it to move”
I tried moving the mana on the ground and made it go up a bit. When I did that, I felt like my head was about to burst but then I felt a bump on my(?) back. “Success!” It might hurt, but I still need to do it so that we can survive. I then proceeded to move mana on the floor to carry my(?) body and go towards the cave. I couldn’t see anything because my(?) eyes were closed but I could get a feel of the surroundings using mana and I also know the direction of where I’m going.
I arrived at the entrance of the cave, but at the same time, I felt my head hurting more and more. I persevered through the pain and kept on moving the body deeper inside and placed it by the wall, and made a small, half-igloo-like house. When I placed the body and let go of my control over the mana, the pain in my head became so unbearable it felt like my head was gonna blow up. It really hurts so bad that I want to scream, but I’ve got no energy left to spar,e and then I passed out.

I woke up to a ding-like sound. I slowly opened my eyes and saw a blue screen in front of me. I waved it off as the pain in my back hurt so bad. I sat up and looked around me, I saw a half-dome area with a small opening at the front. I stood up and felt something oozing on my back. I looked around me and saw a red and yellowish liquid on where I was sleeping. Pus. It was pus. My back is infected with pus, and I don’t know how to clean it.
“V- Ved, are you there?” I asked him but I didn’t receive a response. “H- hello, you there??” I asked with a sense of urgency in my voice but still, no response. “I- is he dead?? Did something happen to him?? How did I even get here??” I could feel my throat getting dry and tears fell out of my eyes.
Hiik* Hiik* Sniff* Sob* sob* sob*
“V- Ved, please tell me you’re there. Please!” I waited, and waited, and waited. Still, no response and then I heard my stomach rumble and I began to cry even more.
Uwaaah* Uwaaah*
I have no idea what to do. I just arrived at this place with nothing except my clothes. Stupid me! It’s because I was so loud yesterday that the bear found us! Dammit! Dammit! I... I wanna go back... Back home…
My stomach growled louder, and the pain in my back was getting more and more painful. I am also a bit dizzy, but I steeled myself to push through. I wiped the tears from my eyes and thought to myself. “I need to find food first. I am so hungry right now.” My whole body is shaking as I willed myself to walk outside. I endured the pain and kept on walking. As I arrived at the entrance of the cave.
I feel really tired and my knees are weak. Oh well, no matter, I still need to survive. Come to think of it, it seems so unfair that Ved got these skills while I have none. He even has a higher int than I, although that’s to be expected, as he said that he always studied back on Earth. It seems he carried my body inside the cave and also created the earth dome around me. He saved me, well, our lives. If I had stayed there, I would have probably been eaten by some of the monsters out there.
I walked towards the place where I had fainted and found some purple, horned rabbits eating the charred bits of the bear. The rabbits have fangs and their horns look really sharp. The rabbits have red glowing eyes and some of them are fighting while some of them are eating the other dead rabbits which kinda scared the crap out of me. From what I know of, rabbits only eat grass and carrots but not meat. Hell, these rabbits looked scary with some blood on their face.
I quietly turned and walked away from the rabbits. I came to that place hoping to eat the bear's burnt pieces but it seems to me that it is impossible. The stomach continued grumbling and then I looked around if anyone heard that. “Phew, it seems that no one heard it” I quietly approached the polka dot tree with some glowing mushrooms sticking out. “Mushrooms can be eaten right?” I tried touching one of the mushrooms, and it felt so soft. I pinched the tip of the mushroom and pulled hard hoping to grab a piece of it but my hands just slid on the surface. The mushroom was too soft and slippery for me to grab a hold of. “If that’s the case, don’t mind if I do.” I leaned forward and bit it. I chewed it and swallowed it.
“Huh, It’s not that bad. Phew, I finally got myself a hold of a food so-” my body grew hot and my whole mouth tastes so bad and it feels like it's burning. It tasted so bad like a spoiled milk mixed with sewer water added with liquid poop and it was also too spicy. I felt my stomach scrunch and vomit was on my mouth but I swallowed it again. It tasted so bad, true, but I am really, really, hungry and I don’t have anything to eat. I just have to suck it up. When I bit through it first, it was juicy and chewy with no taste, well, I thought it didn't have one but it was just delayed. I kept on eating the mushroom while crying and occasionally vomiting but I still persevered through it. In a place where there’s no fruits in sight with strong and scary animals tearing each other apart and eating the dead body, even if they are of the same race, I really have no choice but to eat this thing.
When I finished eating this mushroom, my growling stomach subsided but the pain on my back increased instead. Yellowish fluid came out of the scratches on my back coupled with blood. I grit my teeth in pain as the pus was still coming out of my back and then- nothing. “Wh- what? Huh?” The pain subsided and I could feel the wounds on my back closing up and then I heard a notification.

I still might be able to survive in this world after all. I finally got hold of a food source. Since the mushroom has juice in it, I’m not feeling thirsty currently. Although I would greatly avoid eating this thing. It tastes so bad. Just thinking about it makes me sick. I should take a bath first, though, my back feels so sticky because of the pus and the dried-up blood. My pants smelled of urine, and my shirt smelled of vomit and blood. ”
I want to find a source of water, but I don’t want to get lost. I headed to the half-igloo house made of earth that Ved made for me when I was unconscious. “Hmm.. What should I do now? This area is so vast and filled with dangerous creatures. There are a lot of trees too, which makes it easy for me to get lost. Hmmm...” As I was pondering what I should do, I heard a voice in my head.
/Hey, glad you’re still alive!/
“VE-!” I quickly covered my mouth as I was speaking too loudly. I hope those creatures didn’t hear me… “Ved, you’re back! Thank goodness!” A wave of relief washed over me when I realized I wasn’t alone anymore.
/Yeeeaaaaa, sorry about that. How long was I out? What happened? My head hurts quite a bit, and I could kinda taste a disgusting taste in my(?) mouth. I would throw up if I could. What the hell did you even eat??/
“You weren’t gone for a long time, I kinda just woke up like an hour ago. About the disgusting taste though... “ I then proceeded to tell him about how hungry I am and then about those scary rabbits tearing each other apart, and also about the glowing mushroom that I ate.”
/I see… Well, I’m just glad that the mushroom is not poisonous. Heck, it even healed your wound. Although the taste is downright appalling, it is a small price to pay for your life./
/Anyways, we should look for a river, though./
“Hmm? What for?.”
/Mostly because most cities, towns, and villages are situated near a body of water. By walking along the river, we might find other people or some civilization who can help us/
“Huh, you’re right.” I agreed with him. “Where should we go, though? How do we avoid getting lost?”

I assume that int correlates to mana, stm correlates to stamina, and vit for health. Based on these numbers, 1 point for STM increases stamina by 10, health for Vit, and mana for Int.
Huh.. Garett and I almost have the same stats except for mana and int. Must've been the stat Synchronization.
Let's see.. As I don't have a body that I can control by myself, why do I have stats for Str, Agi, Stm, and the like? I might need to research more on this later.
