Chapter 131: Valhalla

  AN: Merry Christmas y'all!

  Chapter 131: Valhal

  Well then…what to do…

  Benjamin sighed.

He had expected the two to meet at some point but didn’t think it would happen here and now.

In fact, part of the reason Benjamin accepted to bring He along was so the two wouldn’t meet when he was away.

But to think Valkyrie would appear here…well, she’s probably here to meet Thor or something and just happened to see He walking outside…

What happened was indeed how Benjamin imagined.

Valkyrie was swinging by and wanted to grab some Asgardian wine which may or may not be known to Thor. However, she saw He leaving the throne room and the rest was history.

Actually, she wasn’t such a hotheaded person.

She didn’t attack He from the getgo and first doubted her own eyes.

After all, this was Asgard. Even more so, the royal pace of Asgard!

Why would He, who was supposedly trapped in Hel, be walking around so casually here!?

Does that make any sense? Of course not.

However, the truth was right before her eyes.

Only after checking that she was the real deal, did Valkrie unch an attack.

And the moment they cshed, Valkyrie was no longer in doubt.

  It was indeed her!

  He, the Goddess of Death!

The one that killed every single one of her sisters!

He blocked her attack without any problems and gnced at her casually.

  “Huh, it’s you.”

  Valkyrie grimaced with gritted teeth.

  “You know who I am!?”

  He shrugged.

“You’re the Valkyrie who hid herself underneath the corpses of her sisters.”

  Valkyrie’s eyes widened in shock.

  “You…you knew…!?”

  He scoffed.

“Please, who do you think I am? Do you really think anyone can py dead in front of me?”

  “...Then why…”

  “Why did I spare you?”

  He rolled her eyes.

“You’re just a soldier. I have nothing against you. If you were going to stay down then why should I bother?”

He shook her head while casually blocking Valkyrie’s swings.

Valkyrie gritted her teeth and swung harder.

“So you know who I am! It doesn’t matter! I will kill you for what you did to my sisters!”

While Valkyrie started to intensify her attacks, at the side, Selene looked toward Benjamin and asked.

“Uhh, aren’t you going to stop them?”

“Hm? Oh, well, I was indeed worried at first but…”

Benjamin gnced at He who was only blocking and dodging Valkyrie’s attacks.

“I guess I don’t really need to worry much after all.”

Benjamin wasn’t worried He would get hurt. After all, she’s now Death’s apostle. It isn’t easy to hurt someone of her caliber.

He was more worried that He wouldn’t be able to hold back and kill Valkyrie.

Now that he saw He was managing to hold back properly, there was no need to worry so much anymore.

In this case, just let Valkyrie vent a little.

After a few minutes of fighting and blocking, He was starting to get annoyed and simply grabbed Valkyrie’s sword by the bde with her bare hand and tossed it away.

“Are you done yet!? I don’t have all day!”

  “WHY AREN’T YOU FIGHTING BACK!?”

Valkyrie shouted in frustration as she punched He instead now that her weapon was gone.

He sighed and caught her punch.

“I don’t have time for this.”

He tapped the ground with her feet and instantly, dozens of bck swords appeared, piercing upwards as it encaged Valkyrie.

“I mean seriously. Did you really think you could kill me? The once Goddess of Death?”

Valkyrie who seemed to have gotten a wake up call was speechless for a moment.

“Well…if you put it like that…”

“I don’t get why you’re even angry at me. They’re not dead. Not really.”

“What are you saying…you literally killed them! Their ice-cold bodies covered me for days!”

  He sighed.

“They died in war, girl. That means they’re in Valhal.”

  Valkyrie still looked confused.

  “Yeah. Meaning, they’re dead!”

  He shook her head.

“Valhal isn’t death. At least, not truly.”

At this moment, Freyja, who was watching from the sidelines, approached them.

“Are you saying…Valhal is an actual pce? A pce we can go to?”

  Benjamin was also curious.

From what he knew, Valhal is basically like Heaven for Asgard. Just a pce everyone tells you will go to when you die but isn’t an actual thing.

Sure there is Heven but human souls doesn’t go there when they die.

Well, there’s Hell but the souls that enter there usually goes there because of a contract with a demon or other causes.

There isn’t some kind of cosmic entity that judges good or evil then delegates where you go to when you die.

Wait no, there was that Egyptian God or something.

Speaking of, I don’t think Moon Knight has appeared yet.

  He expined.

“It’s something I only learned thanks to my Master.”

  “Your Master?”

  Valkyrie asked.

“I mean Death. I’m now an Apostle of Death. Keep up.”

  “...”

“Anyway, she said that around a few million years ago, before she was trapped in the Soul Stone, she met one of our ancestors. Apparently, he was once also known as the God of Death. But unlike me, he didn’t bring about Death to all beings. Instead, he found a way to create a way for souls to, instead of going to Death, divert it to another pce. Valhal.”

  He continued.

“Of course what he did was still quite rudimentary compared to the true powers of my Master. But my Master was impressed and helped him out. And so from then on, warriors who die in battle will have their souls go to Valhal.”

  “Wait, I’m confused.”

  Thor interjected.

“So…is my father alive or dead?”

  “He’s alive. Unfortunately.”

  He rolled her eyes.

“Make no mistake. No one can cheat Death. Their time in Valhal is merely an extension of their time. They will still die. Eventually.”

Everyone looked at each other, still unable to believe what they heard.

  Valkyrie frowned.

“And we’re just supposed to believe you?”

  He chuckled.

  “That’s your problem, not mine.”

He no longer bothered with them as she suddenly turned into a crow and flew off somewhere.

Valkyrie was silent for a while before turning to Benjamin.

“What she said…is it real? My sisters…they’re still alive?”

  Benjamin reassured her.

“She has no reason to lie. If you want I can try and see if I can bring you to Valhal without dying.”

  “You can do that?”

“Nope. But I know someone who could.”

  “Who?”

  “Her Master. Death.”

  “...”

  Valkyrie was speechless.

How is it that when you say it, it’s like you’re just meeting your neighbor or something…

Well, she didn’t know that Death was already pregnant with Benjamin’s kid…

Valkyrie sighed and shook her head.

“No need…as you said, she had no reason to lie…also…I thought I hated her but…in the end, I just hate myself more.”

Thor approached and patted Valkyrie on the shoulder.

“There’s no reason to hate yourself. In fact, if you think about it, my father’s the reason your sisters are dead. He shouldn’t have sent you against her.”

  “...”

  Somewhere in Valhal.

Odin suddenly sneezed out of nowhere.

“...I feel like someone’s talking bad about me…”

Beside him, his once Valkyrie General ughed while downing a barrel of mead.

“I’m sure they have every reason to do so.”

  “...”

  Back in Asgard.

“In any case, let’s not brood over this matter. Come, we have a feast to prepare!”

  Thor ughed.

Valkyrie looked at him with half-closed eyes and resisted the urge to roll her eyes.

Of course you only care about feasts. You should be called the God of Feasts instead.

Freyja shook her head at Thor and sighed.

She then turned back to Benjamin and Selene.

“Right, when you reach Omnipotence City, try to steer clear of Zeus.”

  “Why?”

“Zeus and Odin had…shall we say, a rivalry between them. If Zeus finds out that you were the one to have battled Odin to his end, he might start something. I’m sure you’ll be fine but I imagine it would be quite annoying to deal with.”

  “...Noted.”

Benjamin didn’t want to meet that guy who sticks his thing in everything that moves anyway.

  Beside him, Selene hummed.

“Hm, too bad. I was curious what Zeus looked like.”

“I’m curious how Aphrodite looks like too.”

  “...I’m telling Master.”

  “...I was joking.”

Besides, how beautiful can the Goddess of Beauty possibly be?

After seeing Death in the past when she wasn’t holding back her charm, Benjamin was convinced he wouldn’t be able to find anyone more beautiful.

“Anyway, we’re only going there to look for a way to go to Heven. I doubt we’ll bump into Zeus randomly.”
