25 Two Weeks Of Study

I returned to my room upstairs getting to my computer before messing around with the right images. The first thing I needed was a shower. Once that was done, I returned to my room and brought up the image of an operating room I had been using for the st two weeks.

Over the st two weeks, I have been busy if I wasn't doing chores around the house or figuring out Ki manipution I spent most of my free time testing things. After I got home I started by dissecting the 'goblins' that had invaded my apartment. No matter how much I tried, I couldn't get over the fact that these things came from the real world. Laying them out in an operating room for the first time I had collected, 23 from the dive plus the home invader. So, a total of 24 goblins.

The first observation was apparent being that all of them were male. Second only to their sharp physical features, cwed fingers and toes. I wondered what their teeth were like, in most media goblins typically had a mouth full of razor bdes. When I went to investigate their dentistry, I discovered that while their incisors up to the mors were like human canine's just a bit sharper, everything beyond was for crushing and grinding.

From there I noted that not many of them had a form of clothing. A loincloth or rags at best. Which was made from the skin of some unknown animal, not some form of tanned hide or leather. The skin was promptly torn off before given its purpose and only the 'home invader' had skins shaped into a bag. As for the tools in the bag, I found some more clutched tightly in some hands while ying them out for the first time. Mostly made of bone with the occasional shaped rock. I don't have a clue what a majority of these would be used for. There were a couple of rough knives and maybe a hammer. There were even some thin bones that had some markings on them that I could only see as purely ornamental. Maybe they were used for measurements? Regardless of their purpose, they went towards a pile on a stray table as I went.

There was also another question; why were there fat ones? From the batch there seemed to be two different groups or types of goblins. The first and more numerous were the skinny and smaller goblins that seemed to be suffering from emaciation and the fat rge ones that had the most adornments (all of them had a loincloth). The 'home invader' seemed to be an oddball, being a little rger than the smaller goblins but not fat like the others. Instead, he had a body with some lithe muscle and was wearing more than just the loincloth.

This led me to a proper autopsy. For these fat ones, their skin/hide seemed rubbery, cutting into one of their rge bellies revealing a thick yellow substance "Does this count as blubber?" I noticed poking the thick lump of fat with the scalpel. Unable to continue investigating the rge breeds' organs (due to the abundance of fat) I had to move over to the smaller ones. That said, it was easier said than done given the fact I had filled them full of holes.

Cutting into one of the more intact corpses revealed odd, purple-colored organs. While an odd sight it wasn’t exactly unique as I ended up spending almost a week comparing their anatomy with that of other goblins in fictional media.

As for what I found rooting around inside the goblins? Firstly, was the green blood that a good number of goblins had. I didn’t notice it at first, considering I was more focused on making sure they were dead at the time. I didn't even give it a second thought until I started to compare them (not as weird as the ones that were green all the way through). For something unique that the real-world goblins had; a chambered stomach that was covered in fleshy nodules.

Then I got curious and started searching up the effects of advanced starvation and came to the conclusion that the hearts and kidneys of these goblins were shrunken due to starvation. This returned me to the reason why they needed to invade my apartment, they were likely exploring to find new sources of food. After the scout returned successfully, more would have come after his successful return.

The st notable thing I have to say on the goblins was for some reason I can’t quite put my finger on. I can't help but think that the smaller goblins were youths. Something about the comparison with the fat ones the bone structure was just a little off. How these youths came to be is another question. (Do goblins even have puberty?)

With the in-depth look of their inside finished, I moved on to something else. With all these bodies, I had to use them for something, and testing healing items was one of the top priorities on the list. But you can't heal something dead (well, normally), so I moved on to resurrection items. It was the first item I tried that I ended up defaulting to, glowing with a mystical aura, they had a soft glow and gave off a decent amount of heat. The red-orange feathers looked quite simir to a peacock's; many might know them as Phoenix Down. You would be fine touching the quill of the feather, touching any part of the down and you would burn your fingers. As for how these divine feathers worked in real life?

  Spoiler

[colpse]It was my first attempt at using one, pcing my hand into the image I didn't feel anything at first, but when I pulled my hand out of the image with the feather in tow, I felt a burning sensation on my fingers. I practically flung the thing at the first goblin in front of me before blowing on my hand to stop the burning. I didn't even notice as the feather fell to the body before he burst into fmes.

After cooling off my fingers I looked back at the burning body, the air was filled with the smell of burnt meat. Before too long in the goblin was a pile of ash. "Well, looks like it's back to the drawing board," I noted before the pile stirred. Next thing I knew I was on the ground and there was a screaming goblin on top of me. I ended up having to kill it again right after, driving one of the scalpels that nded nearby into its head.

With that as a success, I ended up having to study the effect more. Which boiled down to simply dropping the feather on the desired target (While trying to not burn my fingers) and watching as they burst into fmes (along with any fmmable apparel) before returning to life (screaming) from the ashes. However, after a day of testing, I discovered that there were some caveats.

  Requirements:

Minimum requirements: The body must have a head and torso. (Limbs are unnecessary).(Organs aside from the heart are unnecessary). (Sometimes with the majority of the torso intact even with the heart missing resurrection takes pce regardless. No Idea why…). (Dismembered body parts will regenerate even if they were not burned in the process).

Time: Depending on various factors, the resurrection can take pce anywhere from no ter than an hour to 3-5 hours after death. Factors such as the method of death and desiccation are suspected to cause the differences.

Lastly was the most important; being the target was at one point alive. (Likely having some form of soul. Still don’t know souls exist… they probably do now, if they didn’t before…)

From what I could tell, if these requirements were fulfilled the body bursts into fmes and ash shortly before screaming back to life from the ashes. And from an analysis of the test subjects their health seems to improve considering many of the emaciated goblins were less bony after the process finished. But not every trial was a success, if these requirements are not fulfilled, the body is turned to ash regardless with no resurrection taking pce. I still have no idea why it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.

There were also some issues with the resurrected goblins pying possum as the fire and ash effect of the Down worked regardless of success. Submerged in the ash, it was hard to tell if it was a success or not. This led me to the Scouter, and its ability to detect power levels, and it only gives them to living things, so it was two-for-one.

  Goblin power level:

SpoilerGoblin Power: 4-5 (Skinny) 6-8 (Heavy)

[colpse]As for what I did with these resurrected goblins? Human Experimentation however I do question if it should be called: Goblin Experimentation. Either way, their suffering allowed me to understand the properties of some items, namely healing items.

Stempacks (Fallout) were good at repairing internal damage. Specifically, internal organs. Though given they are a complex mix of hormones and a cocktail of drugs (That I don't have the doctorates to even begin to understand) coupled with stemcells I have more than a few concerns using them for anything nonspecific.

Stempack Notes: Doesn’t restore lost limbs (will assist in staunching bleeding). Causes thirst and dehydration if overused. Further concerns regarding possible ‘growths’ that they could cause.

Med-gels of various types were simple as they assisted in cell division and moisture retention. Useful for burns and sealing the occasional cut, but not so much with severed limbs. Most had stimunts that assisted natural healing and dulled pain in the application area. Quite a good general cure-all for most situations. These sci-fi variants work significantly better than their real-world counterparts.

Med-gel Notes: Some have ingredients on the bottle, usually some form of Alien byproducts. Very soothing on Down based burns. Some of these might actually be producible with the right equipment.

(Common) Healing potions are what you would expect when being told of a magic healing liquid. They do however come in a variety of colors, sometimes blue or green and rarely a shade of pink. Red being the color most attributed to health is the most abundant. With the darkest shades improving quality (These fall into a different category). When thinking about an item brewed for your health you might even associate it with medicine and you would be right to expect most of them to taste awful.

Healing Potion Notes: External damage can be dealt with by pouring the liquid on the affected area (Regeneration occurs at a visible rate with speeds increasing as the quality improves). Must be swallowed to heal internal damage (resulting in light buzzing/fuzzy feeling if the effect activates to a certain degree) Internal damage can take some time to heal with lower-quality potions.

In some cases, it leaves the goblins exhausted. Likely because it’s causing cells to rapidly divide, and it needs to get the energy from somewhere, the magical effect alone doesn't seem to be enough.

Recommendation: drink water/energy drinks with simple potions. Apply Med-gel to affected areas in addition to potion. Nutrient supplements following use are also recommended.

Addendum: After the usual training with the goblins in my training field, I decided to finally taste one of the healing potions. After a few more days and taste tests I found that most potions didn’t have the best taste, most tasted like crap some like medicine, and the rare few were pleasant tasting like strawberry or some other fruit at the cost of healing efficiency.

Elixir css potions: This was a css I created that includes various Magic Elixir’s, Panacea, and Full-Potions. (I decided to add 'Protagonist Potions' to this list as well). In all, these potions are in a css of their own. Their mystical effects not only heal wounds, but they also restore fatigue and regenerate lost body parts. From arms to legs, even missing organs. Unlike Senzu Beans these potions are capable of restoring a missing limb even after it heals naturally (with somewhat explosive effects).

If I were to compare the healing between Senzu Beans and Elixer css potions, Senzu Beans hurt as the body realigns and recently missing limbs regenerate. Afterward, you’re full of energy and have enough nutrients for about a week. Elixir’s on the other hand had a numbing effect as the healing process occurred. Regeneration also seems to be different as the test subjects (goblins) seemed rather mellow as the process occurred (Many of them having a 'euphoric' expression after swallowing the liquid). Nerve endings likely regenerate st with these potions to prevent the sensation of pain during the regeneration process. (Wish I had known about these earlier).

Elixer Notes: In general, I can't find much fault in these, they really live up to the god-css items they are said to be. While I have yet to try one personally they should taste better than common potions. But I can't feel that these are safe. More trials are required.

(Might be capable of restoring sight to the blind or hearing to the deaf. I can't be certain since I haven’t tested it. And it might not work on those born with said defects).

Addendum: After a full day of testing, I have found that continuous overuse has taken a toll on the bodies of the goblins. Even if all the energy and nutrients are compensated there is a bodily limit. (Likely because of the short-term nature of the experiment).

While I was experimenting with various healing items I also started experimenting with other types of potions. From Fire Resistance to Iron Skin. I spent a day setting up a shooting range to test guns and the effects these potions had on the recipient.

It was the same day I was called out of my room to help move hay, before the whole Scooter situation. At the time I had left a potion out in my room only to come back to fvored water. With some trials, I discovered a breakdown that occurred with potions in the real world. Lower-quality potions st for about an hour while some of the stronger stuff sts for 24. Their effects also diminish as time passes. For ck of a better term, their 'magicules' or the magic molecules that make up their compounds start to break down in the real world.

Mana potions in particur dissipated the fastest, returning to fvored water after the process finished within about half an hour. On the topic of Mana potions, while I did try one, nothing happened except me gaging from the taste, it appears having Mana was necessary for their successful use.

After my discussion with Danny, I learned that my ability had a new function that I never considered, adding time. Sticking my arm into an image I could at the apparent cost of exhaustion and stamina add seconds to an image. But I decided to take this a step further using a video editor. I could add time to the video with the editor and in doing so I found that with my finger inserted in the screen, I could 'fast forward' to my desired time within the video. New events were seemingly added as I dragged the progress bar. There was no long wait like with the trial image and the effect was more apparent. However, file size really ballons when I do this.

After this discovery, my experiments started to speed up and I started to wonder what were the effects of the 1UPs. I ended up using padded cells as rooms where I started by resurrecting a goblin inside before dropping a 1UP. Once the experiment was set up I added time until the goblin got hungry and ate the mushroom. Surprisingly I watched the goblin react to waking up inside the strange room and spent about a week's worth of time before succumbing to hunger. (Did they look that unappetizing?) I ended up performing this test on three different types (species?) of goblins. Of the three only this one seemed to refuse while the other two ate the mushroom within the first couple hours. Once they had consumed the mushroom I would take my finger out before cutting the video and saving it before it became an experiment (You always need backups).

Putting one of the test videos back into the editor I proceeded to shoot the test goblins in the head. After adding some time and fast-forwarding after about 3 hours a strange growth could be seen on the inside of its head. With about 24 hours after death the goblin returned to life looking around the padded walls warily.

With a more direct analysis, I discovered a strange type of mycelium grows from the deadly wounds of the consumer. In the short term, it grows out to close the wounds, bringing the host back from the brink of death. Over time this strange fungus dissipates with the cells of the mycelium exchanging with those from the goblins. This remains true regardless of the wound, organ, or limb being regenerated. The mycelium just transforms into the necessary organs before cell repcement begins. This process regenerated lost limbs, fingers, toes, and when I really put it to the test the heart, liver, etc. It’s very peculiar to watch the mycelium grow into a heart and then start beating. It even takes on the purple color of the goblin’s insides.

1UP Mushroom: A ball-shaped green mushroom with white dots. Tastes minty and quite refreshing. After being swallowed a number appears above the head denoting the number of mushrooms eaten as well as the +1 followed by the characteristic jingle pying in the consumer's ear. Limit: 99 after this number is reached the number will no longer increase.

Activation condition: Death/Brink of death. After activation, the body releases a strange mycelium that spreads throughout the body and regenerates everything, flesh, bones, and even blood seem to be mimicked or compensated for by this strange mycelium.

The only way I found that stops the mycelial growth is by completely destroying the brain and heart (beheading does not count. The mycelium sees this as a nearby separated limb and will grow to reattach it). In doing so the host dies and the growth continues for a short time before turning bck and perishing along with the host.

Notes: The only way to stop the regeneration is to destroy both the head (brain) and heart before the mycelium reacts. Fire does not stop the regeneration in fact, the mycelium is disturbingly resistant to burning and will grow over the body like a cocoon to protect it. (It might also be capable of attack. But I have yet to see it).

Time tell recovery: Further study required.

(I am unsure how this would work on me, as my tests only had the goblins take one before conducted tests. There could also be something simir to the observer effect that changes the nature of the experiment when it is observed. Also, I don't know how I should feel knowing there is a mycelium colony living inside me...)

After more than two weeks of torturing goblins, I came to the realization: I didn't know I was this sadistic.

SpoilerI like to think that the number decreases inside your head as you wait to revive.
