Titanium snakes coiled tightly around her wrists, slithering up her spine to wrap themselves snugly around her throat. At the slightest revolt, their steel frames tightened oppressively around her mortal body. Escape from their embrace was futile. Tears stung in her weary eyes, and weakly trickled down an expression mocking helplessness.
She had been granted sight, though all she could make out were the four blank cement walls that hugged her into the darkness, caressing her with promises of safety. Her ears rang as a high pitched ticking grew louder. Silence would not be awarded to the fearful.
Her tongue began to swell inside a cage of teeth. She opened her mouth to scream, but there was no sound. Rivers continued to flow relentlessly down her cold cheeks, and swam into the puddles beneath her. As the water began to rise at an impatient pace, it carried itself proudly, washing waves across her shivering arms, up to the lavender kissed skin of her neck.

Just before the tides could rise any further, an Angel materialized before her, its form casting shallow reflections in the water. Ten feet tall, The Angel towered over her. Dark blue eyes looked down upon the girl with a viciously scornful grimace. The Angel’s eyes sifted meticulously through the layers of her being, trespassing her spirit. As soon as she was laid bare, the Angel smirked, and the last echo of the clock’s ticking ran up the walls, abandoning her into a reprieve of silence.
The Angel bent down gracefully, running thin white fingers through the girl’s midnight hair. She cautiously looked up into the Angel’s glowering stare. A face painted of porcelain, eyes a velvet sky, a million vivid shades of blue; a beauty surpassing all beamed back at her with an overwhelming presence. Scarlet lips moved, began to speak to her, though the message of such ancient words were lost on her. The girl listened with intense focus, struggling to piece together any familiar sounds.
