Later That Night

Kay sat on her bed, staring out the window, the sound of Ravi’s footsteps lingering in her mind. It felt like the world had turned upside down, like everything she knew was now just… fractured.

The events of the night had left her with a whirlwind of emotions—confusion, guilt, passion, longing—but above all, a deep ache. She felt torn in a thousand directions. Zayn’s touch, his words, the way he made her feel so alive… it was impossible to just turn away from that.

But then, there was Ravi. The brother who had always looked out for her, who had given her everything, including a home and protection . He had always been there. And now, she had betrayed that trust. Not intentionally. But it was there, like a thick cloud over her chest.

There was a knock at her door, and she didn’t have to look to know who it was.

“Kay?” Ravi’s voice was soft, but it still held a layer of anger. She turned her head slowly to look at him, her heart sinking as she saw the way he stood there—arms crossed, jaw clenched.

“I didn’t mean for things to get this way,” she said quietly, standing up from the bed. “I didn’t mean for any of this to happen.”

Ravi’s eyes were hard. “But it did, Kay. You think I’m just going to pretend like it didn’t? He—Zayn—is my best friend. And you… you were supposed to be off-limits.”

Kay bit her lip. “Ravi, you have to understand. It wasn’t planned. It wasn’t something we thought about. It just happened."

Ravi’s eyes softened for a split second, but then the hardness returned. “I don’t know if I can ever forgive you for this. Or him.”

“I never wanted to hurt you,” Kay whispered, taking a step toward him. “I know I’ve made things worse… but I need you to trust me. I never wanted to destroy our relationship over something like this.”

Ravi was silent for a long time, then he spoke, his voice low and resigned. “It’s not just about trust, Kay. I can’t live under the same roof as him anymore. I can’t look at him and not think about… about what he did.”

Kay could feel the tears threatening to spill, but she blinked them away. She didn’t want to cry. She didn’t want to break down. “So, what now? Are you telling me I have to choose?”

Ravi took a deep breath, the conflict in his eyes clear. “I’m asking you to choose, Kay. I’m asking you toto choose what’s best for you. Because what you did… it’s not just going to affect you and him. It affects both of us. And I need space to figure out how to move forward.”

Kay’s heart shattered in that moment. She couldn’t make this decision. She couldn’t choose between them, not after everything they had been through.
