Chapter 1 — The Rift Between Realities

Summer break had always meant freedom—freedom from deadlines, from lectures, from reality itself.

For Diamond and Jaidyn, best friends since middle school and bonded by their love for anime and chaotic adventures, it meant one thing this year: a weekend escape into the serene wilderness of Colorado.

The fire crackled softly. The stars above shimmered like distant memories, unbothered by the problems of Earth. A breeze danced between the pines, rustling the leaves like whispers from another world.

On a faded blue sleeping bag, Jaidyn leaned back and chuckled, marshmallow skewered on a stick.

“Imagine we actually got isekai’d,” he said, smirking as he popped another sugary puff into his mouth.

Diamond rolled his eyes, adjusting his hoodie.

“Nah. We’d probably die in the first ten minutes.”

  They laughed. Loud. Free. Unaware.

Fate, it seemed, had been listening.

  The sky tore open.

No thunder. No warning. Just—a rift. A jagged wound in the sky, crackling with impossible color—indigo, gold, crimson, all at once and none at all.

Time bent. Air screamed. The ground twisted as a force not of this world yanked them upward.

They didn’t even have time to shout.

  The world vanished.

When consciousness returned, it was not Earth that greeted them.

  It was… magic.

They stood on a circular stone platform suspended in midair, ringed by six towering obelisks, each glowing faintly with runes older than memory. The sky was a soft violet swirl, like dusk had fallen on a dream. And below them... nothing. Just the stars, blinking in an eternal void.

Jaidyn blinked. “Bro… where the hell—”

A voice, deep and ancient, shook the air itself.

“You have been chosen. Awaken, Heroes of the Sigil.”

Light rained down from the heavens—six beams. But only two found their mark.

Diamond clutched his chest as something seared into him—an emblem, glowing with golden threads that pulsed to the beat of the world itself. Everything slowed. Even the wind.

“Am I… seeing in slow motion?”

Jaidyn staggered, heat flaring through his spine. Black fire coiled around him, wrapping his arms like armor. It pulsed like a heartbeat—alive. Hungry.

  “Okay… okay this is badass.”

  Their bodies shimmered. Empowered. Marked.

Diamond stared at his hands, a faint golden light dancing across his skin.

  “This... isn’t a dream.”

Jaidyn threw up both hands, now wrapped in burning shadows, grinning like he’d just hit max stats in a new game.

“I’m about to drop a whole arc of fire on somebody! Let’s goooo!”

  Their world had changed.

  Their story had begun.

  And destiny?

  Destiny was just getting started.
