Fate of the Five; Prologue

  The story so far…

Will Harris and his faithful companion Minnie were brought to a new world to be the newest and last captain of the fabulous steamboat Rose. He found out that the towns depended on the Rose to gather coal and ore. At first for Laketown only then, as they voyaged further, they came upon other communities. Rediscovered towns like Newton and the Burrows welcomed Will and Minnie.

The Rose was a wondrous vessel. Built of the mystical heartwood, incredibly strong and tough. A coal fired boiler driving her steam engine she could carry tons of supplies and cargo. Over twenty five metres long and broad beamed with a deep ocean hull. Full of cabins and storerooms, the galley and mess hall, this ship had been built for work and comfort.

When he first arrived Will was at the end of his life. Granted youth and immortality by the mysterious Elaith and access to the powerful MENU . As time went on Will and his crew were given new abilities and strengths. Nothing too amazing, just becoming better.

The lake was a part of their world, but closed off to the people forever. Since the events of the Sundering many hundreds of years ago, to go on the water meant death. Only the young people of the towns could go gathering and live to tell their story. Will, being an outsider, was immune to these effects.

As time went on a young woman, Naomi O’Malley, joined the crew and the family. Eventually she became immune to the water’s horrific effect and came to live on the Rose. Will supposed this happened because there of his and Minnie’s influence, while before there was only one captain. Lately they have been joined by two new arrivals, Wills companions from his other world.

Many adventures so far, and many more to go on this bright new world. It’s not all cups of tea and biscuits.

This book continues on from the end of Tales of the Trio.
