Diagon Alley

The next day, early in the morning.

Keith woke up and opened the window to see a blackbird sitting on top of a tree in his granny’s garden. He took a deep breath and focused his gaze on the bird.

He felt light after a moment and miraculously found himself in the place where the bird was.

‘Fly to the window.’ he gave out a mental command and found himself flying in the sky. He felt like he was the bird itself, flapping it’s wings as it flew over to the window and perched on it.

He looked through the eyes of the bird to find himself lying on the floor silently with eyes closed. His chest heaved up and down like it always did. He looked at the two beds, one where he slept and the other one where his dad was supposed to be.

‘Step one done.’ he thought and then looked around to see Tonks walking along the lake nearby, looking like a small speck of dirt in his tiny bird eyes.

‘Alright… looks like mom, dad and granny are in the living room or the kitchen.’ he thought to himself and gave out a mental command, ‘Fly to the right and perch on the window there.’

The blackbird gave out an eager cry and flew again, quickly arriving at it’s destination.

Keith only saw his mom and dad cooking stuff in the kitchen while his granny was nowhere to be found.

‘Well, she’s probably sleeping.’ he thought and silently heard their chatter.

A few minutes later, Ted stopped chopping his vegetables and hugged Andromeda from behind.

“Oh Teddy~” she said softly before her tone changed “We’re at your mom’s place! This isn’t the right time.”

Keith had seen things similar to this multiple times and it still gave him severe second hand embarrassment. Knowing what might happen soon, he decided to withdraw from his daily mission of trying to overhear things.

He opened his eyes and found himself back in his own body before he stood up. Turning around, he stared at his reflection in the mirror.

Long and messy hair that was slightly curly sat on top of his head. His face, one of the most adorable ones for those in his age. He was thin and slightly shorter than those in his age group too, standing at 4 foot 5 inches.

His bright violet eyes stared at his own reflection for a few seconds and he watched as it slowly changed to deep green. Once there weren’t any changes, he walked out of the room and announced his presence loudly.

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

“Mom, dad! When are we going to buy stuff?”

Almost instantly, he heard clinking of utensils and then he heard his dad’s voice.

“Nymphadora said that she’ll take you to get your stuff. Why don’t you go out and tell her that you’re ready?”

Keith headed straight to the main door instead of the kitchen as he responded, “Gooot it!”

He ran over to Tonks and talked to her for a bit before both of them rushed back into the house. Tonks tapped one of the trunks which belonged to Keith and disapparated with it. She returned soon after and made three more trips before grabbing Keith’s arm tightly.

“Make sure you don’t let go and hold on tight.” she said and Keith nodded as he grabbed onto her like his life depended on it.

A moment later, he felt like someone had grabbed onto his stomach and was twisting it. He saw his surroundings change and also heard a loud pop, while his legs gave in. He knelt on the floor and retched, feeling terrible.

Luckily, he hadn’t eaten anything yet so nothing came out.

He looked up at his sister with watery eyes but wiped them quickly.

“Ugh… let’s go sell these potions…” he muttered as he began to open his trunks one by one. Three of them were filled with huge glass containers but the last one had multiple things.

Books, clothes, quills, parchments, a thick stack of chocolate frog cards and then, a bunch of small potion vials. He immediately closed the trunks that had the huge glass containers before looking up at his sister.

“We’ll sell these small vials first since that’s how shops usually sell them to people too. Mom told me that selling small vials gives you more profit compared to selling in bulk.” he said confidently.

Hearing this, Tonks shook her head with a wry smile, “That’s only when you have a shop of your own KB. We’re selling our potions to shops, not regular people so we’ll have to sell at a discounted price for them to even buy our stuff. And, we’ll have better results if we sell in bulk compared to selling individual vials of potions.”

Keith thought about it for a bit and shrugged, “Explain about this whole thing later. I don’t really understand what you’re trying to say.”

“Alright alright, here.” she said and gave him a small cloth bag, “Half of my monthly salary is in this bag. I checked your book list and the good news is that you don’t have to buy new defence against the dark arts books since I had to get the same books back in my first year.”

She took out the letter from the inner pockets of her robe and began to skim through as she spoke.

“Let’s see… you’ll need a wand. You’ve been using your mother’s wand until now but if you want one that’s perfectly made for you, then you’ll need to get a new one. Ollivander offers a special price of just seven galleons for first year hogwarts students so make sure you get one. If you go there next year, he’ll take fifty to hundred galleons per wand based on the materials he used to make them.” she explained and then moved on.

“Hmm… all of these are books. Oh yeah, you’ll need all of the clothes stuff and…well, everything other than the books. Make sure you buy a thick stack of parchment and a handful of quills and some ink for taking down notes in class. You already have brass scales and vials.”

She then gave him the list before grinning, “You’ve been using a size one cauldron until now, so you’ll have to get a new one that’s of size two. Pewter cauldrons are fragile and break easily compared to other types but that’s what you’ll need for Hogwarts.”
