Chapter 04: Remnants of the Smell the Princess is Looking For.

  2 days before the meeting.

At the time Mephistopheles gave an advice to princess Hecate on her journey going back to Hell, she starts pondering about it. The man who can’t smile, and the familiar smell of rotten soul.

She has been pondering about it. At the time Hecate exiled from her world, she became accustomed to live in the mortal plane. Yet, there are times she can faintly smile the scent of fouled souls.

Humans are creatures that can be lenient or vile towards their kind. Whenever the emotions get best against them, they ended up doing horrendous deeds that will later regret.

And from there, she notices the demons crawling on the lives of those humans, attaining for their deed to be corrupt. As Hecate believes that humans can still be good as she thinks, but her powerless body can’t get rid of those demons.

Those low-class demons can only inflict simple harm to their host, with their simple whisper.

Just like that, Hecate blends on the society like any other beings. She gains connections and found new companions. It’s like she wasn’t even a demon, the daughter of Hell itself.

  But right now…

Hecate starts wandering from the crowded streets, searching for the glance of the fouled soul Mephistopheles speak of. The mix of the gaseous smokes coming from the vehicle, and the different fragrant used by the people around blocked her keen smell.

There are only few familiar fouled smell of souls passing through, and there aren’t much from them.

However… at that day, she noticed from a distance, a strong, foul odor coming from somewhere. That familiar odor is much stronger than she has been familiarized with.

It’s too strong she can’t defy it. Even the pendant she’s wearing gleamed from that smell.

When demons affiliate with a strong foul smell of the soul, their instincts kick in and gets through the desired host they want to manipulate. The more their thoughts are corrupt, the more their desire to own that body and manipulate according to their strong desire.

And Hecate’s demonic instincts gets the better of her. She couldn’t conceal it; the inner rage she has been concealing since the time her father banished her from Hell. It could be a good opportunity to gain her power once more and confront her father.

“No, I should stop.” her teeth gritted as those words left from her mouth. “There’s nothing good to happen if I commit to my own deed.”

Hecate heaves a deep sigh and refocuses herself once more. “There’s more than I need to do, stop what father wants to happen here in the mortal plane.”

On her conviction, Hecate clears her mind and follows the fouled smell of soul comes from. Each step she does, the smell gets stronger and her demonic instincts kick in.

As she walks further, the sudden foul smell of the soul vanished in the thin air. It as if it’s not existed in the first place. Noticing the sudden changes, she keeps walking forward to see where the foul smell comes from.

At the narrow, dark alley, a boy crouched while petting a kitten shows on her. Hecate couldn’t believe it. With the vanished smell she’s tracking, there’s no way a human like him will possess such kind.

“It’s impossible to be him.” she muttered and sigh, while glaring at the boy. The pendant she’s wearing stops from gleaming. But how? How could that happen? It’s just a while ago, the strong foul odor kicks to her instincts and now… it’s gone.

“Maybe I’m just overthinking things.” she utters and moves away from the dark alley. “I should find somewhere else.”

Leaving the lost trace of her searching, Hecate proceeds on the other places, but to no luck… she didn’t got any clue upon the one she’s looking for.
