Chapter 5 Tell me, why are you crying?

Chapter 5: Tell me, why are you crying?

What did she do wrong? Why does everyone bully her, even a glass bottle can't get along with her.

"What's wrong?" A low male voice came from above, with a hint of impatience in his tone, obviously having been woken up.

He frowned, looking at the mess on the ground, with bright red blood dripping onto the white marble, a stark contrast. Xian Yan was curled up on the ground, looking pitiful. "Are you hurt?" he asked.

"It's none of your business." Her tone was somewhat sharp.

He suddenly chuckled and raised her rounded chin with his palm, not allowing her to evade his gaze. Xian Yan's pair of eyes had been washed clean by tears, looking bright and beautiful enough to move people's hearts.

"Tell me, why are you crying?" He leaned in, his warm breath falling on her pale cheek.

"My hand hurts." She bit her lip, still avoiding his gaze. Ji Weiyan had a pair of deep and profound eyes that pierced through human nature, making her feel a little afraid.

She suddenly pushed him away, stumbled and hid in the kitchen, rummaged through the cupboard and finally found the first-aid kit. She sat on the floor to dress her wounds, the pain from the antiseptic water stimulating every cell, tears welling up in her eyes.

As a doctor, she knew how important her hands were to her. However, the pain in her palms was far outweighed by that in her heart. She felt that some corner of her heart where emotions were stored was rotting and festering inch by inch.

She married him with a true heart. Even though he was always cold and distant to her, even though he rarely came home... Someone once told her that love requires courage. She bravely went on loving, but what she got in return was forever the unfeeling betrayal of Gao Yuxuan, just like Ji Weiyang.

When she wiped away her tears and walked out of the kitchen, Ji Wei Yang had already changed into his suit and was ready to go out.

At the entrance, a pair of black leather shoes was polished to shine. He hesitated for a moment, and his eyes flashed with an unusual color. In fact, Xian Yan was a good wife, but unfortunately, he wasn't a qualified husband.

"In the evening I'll go to the hospital to pick you up, there's a gathering, accompany me to attend." He said calmly, then pushed the door and left.

She stared blankly at the still tightly closed door, Ji Wei Yang would never ask for her opinion, his words were like imperial decrees that brooked no argument. Every extra second he gave her seemed like a favor bestowed upon her.

Zhan Yan sat alone at the dining table eating breakfast, the soft bread slices entering his mouth, but it was like chewing wax.

After having breakfast, she rushed to the hospital. Due to her hand injury, she asked the resident doctor to cancel all operations within a week.

"Dr. Wei, you'd better get the wound on your hand bandaged in surgery, just in case it gets infected. This kind of thing can be either big or small." The intern doctor reminded kindly.

"It's just a minor injury, no need to make a big deal out of it." Xian Yan changed into a white coat and picked up the night shift doctor's records, flipping through them as he walked towards the ward.

She made routine rounds and pushed open the door of Gao Gan's ward.

Ding Yifei looked like she was recovering well, with a rosy complexion and all her indicators normal. The nurse on duty, Du Xiaomo, was taking her temperature with a serious expression.

"Miss Ding, is there anywhere you feel uncomfortable today?" Zhan Yan kept her head down, quickly recording various data with the pen in her hand.
