Chapter 2 - roommates [Writathon Version]

Got only one level in basic magic, Skills are so weird. I still cast my spell like normal, but my gestures are a little bit more precise, my mana flow a little bit better, and I notice things wrong with the spells I never did before. Like it doesn't do everything for me, but round the edge. And after the level up, it's the same but better, and I get some instinct on things I could do.

I think I should be able to get one more level quickly, and then I would have to learn new things, or grind what I know how to do to get experiences.

The additional attributes, especially the bonus magic points are so useful, they make everything better.

I tried all the little spells I learned, gust of wind to clean the dust in my room, produce heat to keep my lunch hot while I'm busy reading, minor telekinesis to get water from the bed when I'm too tired after casting all day. Really excited to learn real big magic !

I left the Inn the next morning, paying my tab and spending my last silvers. The academy offer room and food, so I won't need to spend any coppers for the year, and they should have all the books I need so it won't be too bad. And amazing mage with a diploma always find jobs so I won't stay poor long !

I navigate the streets of new Farlou toward the academy, it's close to my Inn, and I read a local map while eating breakfast to make sure I won't get lost. When I arrived at the academy door I can see dozens of students in the square in front of the main building. Everyone is here with their baggage, fellow first year if I have to guess.

Oh, and a few peoples that look more in the know, without bag and giving direction, probably second year that came to help ? I don't need any help to find my building, my letter of admission came with a map of the campus and I expertly cross the square toward a smaller building East. I show my letter to the stern looking guard at the door of the dormitory and I'm allowed entry.

The building is equipped with an elevator, a small platform made of mana is in the middle of the round stair and allow students to rise quickly through the level. My room is on the 4th floor, and I feel like flying when the elevator make me rise quickly. Too soon I'm on my floor and find the 406, when I enter nobody else is here, so I decide to choose my bed first, I take the one close to the window, on the left. I will have 3 roommate top, maybe less if not enough candidate managed to succeed the entrance exam.

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

I put my stuff in the small wardrobe close to my bed, check the view, I'm on the other side of the building, so it let me watch the small forest area at the back of the school. I don't know if it's a forest or a park if it's in a city ? I should look it up. But they definitely are going with the natural feel, I can even see rabbit running around. I know that not every student is a mage, and even if druids are not mainstream here, we should have a few.

Nature magic seems fun, but I'm not seeing myself focusing that heavily on only one type of magic, I need to learn everything.

While I'm rabbit gazing, a girl enter the room, she's as tall as me, long ears, browns hairs and a brown-green skin tone. She's probably a wood elf I think ? I know it's rude to ask, but I'm a bit curious. She's dressed in casual clothes, clearly her everyday set, she doesn't look as rich as other students I met.

We finally met eyes, I think she was also checking me out, she attempt a smile, so time to be social.

"Hi ! I'm Juliette, I guess we will be roommate this year."

"Oh, I'm Sharron, glad to meet you !"

"I took that bed if that's ok for you ? We are the first arrived so you have options. What are you coming to learn at the academy ?"

"Yeah, I will take the other one next to the windows. I'm a druid, so I have a full spellcasting class load with an heavy focus on Nature Mana and healing."

Oh, fun, "I'm here for generalist magic, I'm hoping to go for archmage by Tier 4, if I ever manage to rise that high."

"Wow ambitious, I want to become a healer, but Druid is a better foundation than the classic Healer class, more magic and utility outside. And with my {Nature advocate} trait I'm starting with a leg up"

"Oh that's nice, I don't have traits that help with any kind of magic, but a bit of experience bonus instead".

We talked a bit more, and then came Cindy who's a Paladin as her second class. She's almost 10 years older than us, but since she's a Knight first class she didn't learned any magic before. Paladin have an affinity with Light Mana so she will focus only on that kind of magic.

She brought her full plate armor, shield and sword into the room, taking most of her space, and a bit of mine. Sharron at least didn't came with a lot.

The last member of our room arrived a few minutes before it was time to go for my first class, she's named Rebeca, she's a fire mage, and she's a 'Fire blooded lizardfolk'. I will need to check the library because I didn't heard about that specie. I think I heard lizardfolks were living on another continent, but not a lot more.
