Three

Determined to take revenge and to take their dust, Em jumped off the summit of the hill and walked downwards.

The hill wasn't tall, so it wasn't slippery to walk on. It just took time to get to the fences of the temple.

Em had to cross a wide, running river. While crossing it, she found out another skill of her body: she could walk on water as well as she could walk in the air. In fact, she hadn't understood the difference while crossing the river.

As she got to the opposite side of the river, she asked herself, "Did I walk on water or walk over the river in the air?"

In either case, she managed to cross the river.

After walking for a while across a farming field, she arrived at the fences of the temple.

The fences were twice as tall as her and looked solid and spiky.

Em just walked through the fences like a ghost and got behind them. It was easy.

"Now all I have to do is walk through the gate and eat their dust," she said.

She could have thought this to herself instead, but for some reason, she wanted to speak those words to increase the excitement.

There was a wide field between the fences and the temple. Em looked across it and saw many statues, those made of concrete with words carved on them. She recognized the religious scripts.

She kept looking around and saw some people in robes. They were praying at night, she thought, because they were sitting on their knees, with their palms pressed together, and their eyes were closed, while they whispered words out.

Unlike their clean robes, Em wore pajamas that were torn apart a bit. Many small holes and openings were sprinkled across the bottom wear. The upper pajama was loose and dark yellow, and the bottom pajama was loose and dark brown. She had been in the same pajamas since she had left her human life behind.

"The color of my skin doesn't match with my clothing," she whispered, "and I would like to remain anonymous as long as possible."

She looked around for another set of clothing. The darkness of the night was hiding her well enough, but she would walk toward the temple. She had to cover her blue skin because there were light sources across the field. They were dim, but light enough to uncover her unique look.

She couldn't spot any clothing despite her long glance.

She saw a cabinet in the corner of the fences. She thought she might find something inside. To check, she walked there, along the fences, staying as close to them as possible, lurking in the shadows.

The cabinet was distant, but she managed to arrive unseen. It was small and wooden. Inside, a light source was radiating out through the only window.

Em crouched below the window, lying her back against the wood. Before she peeked inside, she listened. There was a regular scratchy noise, which reminded Em of a radio. Em then stood up a little and peeked inside the cabinet, keeping her head unseen.

  There was nobody inside.

Seeing this, Em touched the cabinet wood and got inside. She looked around, checked everywhere quickly, and found a black raincoat. She directly stripped off her damaged clothes, except for her underwear, and then wore the raincoat. The raincoat had a hoodie, which she used to cover her head. She went out her way.

She started to run toward the center of the field.

As she was nearing the statues, she noticed that the people in robes had already gone away.

She walked carefully on the stony pavement toward the gate, and as she made sure there was no one, she looked across at the gate of the temple.

"That's my chance!" She ran to the gate.

Interestingly, she reached the gate too fast. She had run across the pavement so fast that she thought she had used teleportation. And, fortunately, the raincoat was made of a fabric that didn't make noise during movement. Literally, this lightning speed of her run got Em's attention.

She might have found another ability that the monster body possessed: the ability to run faster than light.

She could have praised her body, but she didn't want to lose time.

The gate of the temple seemed bigger, and the temple was even bigger when Em looked up. She tried to push the gate open, but it didn't move. She tried to get behind it using her monster powers, and it worked.

  She suddenly found herself elsewhere.

Indeed, she had entered the temple. But she wasn't behind the gate, as she had predicted. Instead, she was on the ceiling, hanging loosely from her feet, which seemed to be glued to the ceiling.

She was upside-down, looking downwards at the floor. The floor was far below, and the intense height caused dizziness in Em's head. She feared falling down.

With the influence of the fear, Em got to her knees and put her palms on the ceiling.

She spent some time like that, adjusting her thoughts to the situation. Later, she remembered that she had become a monster. Her blue hands reminded her of this fact.

"Where are they?" Em looked downwards over her shoulder. "Why are murderers visiting a religious temple?"

She didn't care about the reason. She would kill them. Still, she didn't know how.

Her monstrous mind showed the location of the murderers one by one. The mind answered as she wished for it. Interestingly.

The four murderers were in random spots in the territory of the temple. The first one was in the basement. The second one was at the garden at the back of the temple. The third one was on the roof floor. The fourth one was here, right below Em, far below her.

Em, from the ceiling, looked down at the fourth one. She was sitting on her knees, reading a book. At least, that was what Em could see.

"I better go down," Em said.
