Penny had her hands on her hips as she entered the cabin. She gave the same narrowed gre at the girls on the bed. “Ew. You two having sex?”
Bridget gred back at her. “As if, bitch.”
“Whatever, I could care less about you rats.” She put her hand up to wave them off.
Lo watched her get something from her trunk. Penny had curly blonde hair that was put up. She looked perpetually mean and hateful. The younger girl dreaded the weeks she had to spend with Penny in their cabin. She was at least grateful that Bridget was nice to her.
Behind Penny came two other girls who looked just as mean as her. Lo didn't know their names. The bck-haired girl stood by the door, leaning against it to prop it open. Her arms were crossed, and her dark eyes zily explored the outside. She looked as if she didn’t care to be there at all. Lo couldn’t tell if she was bored with the camp or following Penny around. The other girl, however, looked at Lo differently. She still looked tough, but she had a peculiar stare. It seemed softer like she was scanning Lo and liked what she saw but didn't want to show it. When Penny grabbed the velvet scrunchie she needed, all three of them left the cabin.
"Who were those girls?" Lo asked quietly.
Bridget rolled her eyes. "Those bitches are her minions. That dark haired girl is Tiffany, and the brown-haired one is Kaitlyn. But she goes by Kat which is so stupid." The older girl shook her head. "They may look harmless, but they're mean. We really need to keep each other's backs."
"Yeah!" Lo nodded. "I think that's a good idea."
Bridget grinned and quickly spit into her palm before holding out her hand to shake. "Let's make a pact that we'll always have each other's backs. No matter what!"
The smaller girl giggled happily. “Ew~” She sloppily spit in her own hand then gleefully connected their hands in a saliva-binding pact. "Deal!" Lo felt great that she made a friend and a pact.
Bridget smirked as she tightened her braid. “You know... I suspect that Penny is jealous~” She winked at her new friend.
Lo smiled, not quite picking up what the older girl was putting down. “Is she jealous of you?”
“Ha! I’m sure of it!” Bridget ughed. “But I’m talking about you. Penny never trashed all my things before.”
Lo’s smile hung by a single thread. “...W-Why though...?”
“Look at you girl!” She pyfully smacked Lo’s knee. “Those heels! Girl, you’re hot!”
The younger girl had a dusting of blush warm her cheeks from the compliment. She couldn’t really see why anyone would be jealous of her. She didn’t view her time at camp as a competition.
“Can I try these on?” Bridget asked, tapping the bubblegum boots.
“Of course!”
“Yay!” The older girl kicked off her tennis shoes without untying the ces first.
Lo unzipped her boots and passed them over. "What do you think we'll be doing tomorrow? Billy said we'd have fun."
"Oh, yeah. Tomorrow is going to be a big game of dodgeball."
Lo’s face twisted up in worry as she watched her new friend slip on her boots. "...Dodgeball?"
"Yeah, it's like initiation." Bridget smirked. "Don't worry though. The ones that have been here the longest get to be the team captains. So that means I'll get to be one! I'll pick you on my team."
The girl smiled a little. "Who's the other captain?"
Bridget frowned. "...Penny's also been here three years... I'm sure she'll pick her crew."
"I really don't wanna py..."
"Wanna know the best part about it?"
"What?"
"Billy watches~" Bridget giggled, standing in the boots. "Ugh, I wish I had a miniskirt or something to py in."
"I have one you can borrow!"
"Oh, please let me borrow it!"
Lo giggled and nodded. "You can!" She dug through her trunk and pulled out the bck mini skirt and red shorts for herself. She passed the skirt to Bridget. “I’ll wear these,” she said as she held the shorts up to herself.
“Ooo, girl, you have booty shorts. You know how to come prepared to camp!”
Although Lo dreaded dodgeball tomorrow, she was looking forward to seeing Billy. She climbed up to her top bunk, fixing her pillow and pulling her composition notebook into her p. Her diary was mostly just one huge love letter to her daddy. He would occasionally take her diary to read what she writes, so she started addressing it to him.
