Chapter 32

“What?” Alex asked, confused. “What does that mean?”

“I will go over everything with you once I get you safe,” Kelile answered. “Now follow me.”

“Okay,” Alex replied, glancing back at the wall behind them, he followed Kelile through the doors to the stage. As he ran across the stage he heard a familiar voice call his name. He looked across the hall at his friend Siddiq, a slight feeling of guilt twinging his heart as he looked away and followed Kelile off the stage and out the door. He heard Siddiq yell for him again and went to turn back. When a wall of rock burst from the ground blocking the door. “What?!” Alex yelped in surprise.

“We need to leave and he can't follow,” Kelile said, the glow of his hands fading.

“I need to talk to him. I have to tell him,” Alex said, as he stared at the newly formed wall.

“Alex, let me get you to safety. We will figure everything else out after,”

  Kelile pleaded.

Alex nodded and looked at Kelile, “Alright, let’s go.” Following Kelile they made their way out of the conference hall and turned towards the apartments. Running down the sidewalk they avoided as many people as possible by not stopping until they were in the parking lot. Kelile approached an all black sedan and opened the doors.

“Get in,” he said to Alex as he opened the driver's side door.

“Wait! I need to get something from my apartment,” Alex exclaimed running into his building.

“We don't have time Alex!” Kelile called after him, but it was too late as Alex was already inside. Kelile sighed as he got out of the car and ran after him.

Alex flung open the door to his apartment and ran to his kitchen. He grabbed his bag and went to his living room to get a picture of his parents.

“Alex!” Kelile yelled as he slammed open his door.

“I'm here. Let's go,” Alex replied as he put the picture in his bag. Kelile grunted and turned heading back to the car. Alex looked around his apartment again and sighed. I knew revealing myself would change things but this is crazy, he thought. Racing down the hall he followed Kelile to the car.

“Stop them!” exclaimed a voice from across the lot.

“Alex, get in, we have to go now!” Kelile called, looking towards where the voice called out.

Alex ran to the car and dove in slamming the door in time to hear a dart bouncing off.

“Buckle up,” Kelile said as he slammed the car in reverse, squealing the tires and spinning to take off. Alex fumbled with the seat belt, finally clicking it into place. Kelile sped down the road glancing in the review mirror to check if anyone was following.

“Do you think they will follow?” Alex asked, frantically looking behind them.

“They will try,” Kelile said, a slight smile lingering on his lips.

“So, who are you? What did you mean when you said ‘Guardian of the Royal Family of the Earthen people’? Are there more people like us?” Alex asked.

Kelile frowned, “There is so much you don't know, and that is my fault.”

“What do you mean? How can it be your fault? I’ve never met you before today,” Alex said confused.

Kelile sighed, “You aren't some normal person.”

“Clearly,” Alex said sarcastically. “My hands glow and I can move earth.”

“You can? Have you practiced?” Kelile asked.

“Yeah, I can do all kinds of things. I have also seen things that have come true,” he finished quietly.

This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.

“You have visions?” Kelile asked, as he glanced at him.

“If that’s what you want to call them,” Alex said quietly. “I mostly have them when I’m sleeping but I have had some when I thought I was awake. They always feel like a dream though, so I don't know.”

“Your mother had visions. She was very powerful in that way,” Kelile replied.

“You knew my mother?” Alex questioned, looking over at Kelile.

“Yes, and your father,” he answered. “Your birth parents.”

“My birth parents?” Alex echoed. “I don't remember ever seeing you when I was younger.”

“No Alex. your true birth parents,” Kelile said.

“My parents are Lynn and Harry Moorez. They were amazing parents and definitely did not have glowing hands or powers,” Alex argued.

“I am sorry to tell you that they were not your birth parents Alex. Your true parents were Alan and Adelina Dharendra, the King and Queen of the Earthen people,” Kelile answered.

“No, you’re wrong. Listen I don't know who you think I am, but I am Alex Moorez. My parents were Lynn and Harry and they loved me,” Alex said. “I followed you because I didn't really have a choice, but I think we should go our separate ways after this.”

“And what will you do? Humm? That big guy back there will hunt you down in no time. Most likely he will lock you up somewhere and you will never be able to unlock your potential. There are bigger things at play Alex. Bigger then you could possibly understand right now, and you are the key,” Kelile said.

Alex sat quiet for a while staring out the window watching the world speed by. I don't know what to think, what to do, he thought, if any of this is true what does it mean? Who am I really? Can I even trust this guy? I know nothing about him. They continued in silence for about an hour before Kelile pulled off on a side road. He drove for another forty five minutes before he slowed down and turned onto a driveway.

“We will stay here until I get a message to move,” Kelile said, getting out of the car. Alex sighed, grabbed his bag and got out of the car. Kelile pulled a cover over the car and headed towards the building. Before he entered he closed his eyes and Alex noticed his hands glow faintly. “It’s clear. Come on.”

“How do you know,” Alex asked, as he followed him into the front room of the building.

“I used my abilities to sense if there was anything around us,” Kelile answered.

“I have done that! I didn't know what I was doing but I have like, felt others before. I don't know how to explain it,” Alex said.

“I know what you mean though. We can work on it. I can train you to use your abilities. They are something you were born with. A part of you that should be as natural as breathing,” Kelile said, closing his eyes.

“You can train me?” Alex questioned peering at Kelile.

“Yes. Tell me what you have discovered. What have you taught yourself and we can start there,” Kelile leaned forward looking Alex in the eyes.

“Well, I didn't know that I was doing things at first,” Alex began. “I thought our experiment was working. I didn't realize it was me doing it initially. When I did, I started to log everything.” Alex grabbed his backpack and dug through it to find his personal logs. He gave them to Kelile to look through.

“So you started collecting data on yourself?” Kelile chuckled, as he thumbed through the logs. “So, you have discovered how to move earth, change its density, mold it into objects, sense things through it. That is impressive. What does this mean? About a dragon?”

“Oh well, I haven’t been able to do it too much but I was able to move my pewter dragon,” Alex answered.

“You could move an object made of metal?” Kelile asked, sitting up and staring at Alex.

“I mean, like I said, I can't do it on command. I did do it today though,” Alex frowned.

  “When?” Kelile questioned.

“Before I ran into you. When I was facing those guys with the general. They shot tranquilizar darts at me and I stopped them somehow,” Alex said, shaking his head.

“What? You don’t know how you did it?” Kelile pressed him.

“No, in the moment of panic I put my hands out to protect myself and asked for help,” Alex said.

“Who did you ask?” Kelile asked.

“Anyone who was listening, but when I opened my eyes my hands were glowing and the darts were just frozen in the air in front of me,” Alex finished, looking at his hands.

“Your parents were the strongest Beweegist I have ever known. You are a product of them. You have potential beyond, well, probably anything we have ever seen,” Kelile said softly.

  “Beweegist?” Alex asked, confused.

Kelile chuckled, “It means ‘mover of earth,’ it is what we call ourselves. You, however, can move metal. That is rare. So rare I don't know that it has been seen in thousands of years.”

“Really? This ability is that rare?” Alex asked.

“Yes, it would make you more than just a Beweegist. If this ability of yours is true. It would make you an Elementalist. The first one in probably over eight thousand years,” Kelile said.

Alex stared for a moment then looked at his hands, “An Elementalist?”
