6 Legendary Squirrel

  “Huh, I wonder where Aveeno went.”

  “Don’t worry about it, she just probably chatting with ma.”

  Me and Glynn walked through the village as we chatted.

  “So earlier, you know that guy who attacked me, he made a sword out of thin air.” I probed.

  “Uh huh.”

  “Can you make me a dagger and some arrows out of ice please?”

  “Sure, but I am more proficient in snow magic than ice. Are you trying to get revenge?”

  “Hehe, how did you know?”

  I don’t really have much of a reason to keep going you see, although this village was nice, but I might as well have a goal, as unhealthy as it is.

  “I couldn’t help but notice you kept grinding your teeth when you mentioned what happened to you.”

  Bawp

  Another vicious snowball from the children.

  Changing the topic, I asked “So what are their names?” pointing in hopefully the right direction, my eyes were covered in snow.

  “That’s Kelly and Kyln. You have to respect them almost as much as you respect Aveeno because twins are rare among elves.”

  “So, I don’t have to respect them?”

  I immediately felt the weight of hundreds of snowballs press against my back as I fell to the ground.

  I struggled to clear the snow out of my eyes.

  “Heeeeey, what was that for.”

  “Kelly, Kyln, here.”

  I saw Glynn putting the twins on a mountain of snowballs. He pointed to me several times before they started throwing snowballs at me.

  “I’ll make your weapons, then ill free you.” Saying that, Glynn walked away.

  “I’ll get my revenge!”

  ~~~
  “Sentimental reasons huh…”
  “Zyran…”
  “Well,” Glynn chuckled, “it looks like he got used to life here faster than I did. And you been here for what, two hours?”
  It’s been nearly 200 years since he last saw a human, well one that was friendly at least. He lived in this village for even longer, most people already forgot he was a half elf.
  He isn’t actually the son of the tribe leader, nor was he the son of the tribe leader’s wife, he was merely adopted by them.
  He was actually there when the village first formed, helping everyone equally during those troubling times. He was so young back then. A child who had just escaped from war.
  He had lied earlier; he was one of the most proficient ice weapon makers, just under his mother. It just comes naturally when you’re mass-producing weapons for war.
  Stolen novel; please report.
  Glynn sympathized with Zyran, both had their parents killed due to the greed of others. He knew he couldn’t make Zyran give up on the thought of revenge, after all, people weren’t as merciful as he was.
  The least he could do was to get Zyran back on track. Glynn would love nothing more than for Zyran to settle down with his sister, but the village isn’t safe either, more refugees were coming, the village population had already doubled in the last three months.
  More of the forest was being cut down, it wouldn’t be long before the humans found this village, until then, this was a place to call home.
  Glynn sighed, ignorance was a bliss for young people like the twins, Aveeno, and Zyran. It was just now, he steeled his belief and decided to guide them as much as he could.
  He casually waved his hand, grabbing carts full of snow before compressing them into simple, crystal blue ice daggers and frost arrows before putting them inside of Zyran’s residence.
  He thought if he should give him a way to automatically make arrows, but shook his head. Zyran would most likely get killed because people would want such a powerful magical tool.
  Was he crazy for helping a human so much? No, when people are hopeless, it is better to guide them in the right direction, treat them with kindness, so that they may help others. Glynn hoped by helping Zyran, he would be helping many people in the future, he had a feeling Zyran could solve a problem or two.
  Glynn slowly walked back to the village and stared at the falling snow.
  From a distance he heard a muffled voice.
  “Glynn, Kelly, Kyln, I will have my revenge!”
  The mountain he created for the twins was gone, all of it piled on top Zyran.
  It gave him a small smile.
  ~~~

  It was an odd feeling, snow was supposed to be cold.

  That was the law of nature, it was uncomfortably warm under the pile of snow.

  I gritted my teeth and yelled. “Glynn, Kelly, Kyln, I will have my revenge!”

  Of course, I wasn’t going to hurt them, at most bury them under snow.

  I laughed coldly to myself, I was going to fuse sooooo much of my mana into water, let it evaporate, and once it started to snow, I will make it endlessly throw snowballs at them from the sky!

  Suddenly, the mountain of snow disappeared and spread into a thin layer of snow that covered the blue tinted grass.

  Speaking of fusing mana, I didn’t just spend my time under the mountain, suffering. I was slowly letting my mana spread into the snow that covered me, and if my plan worked, I could make snowballs without any effort.

  I concentrated and felt my small strand all around me, I pulled at all of them without hesitation.

  Glynn stared at me as I got covered in snow.

  “Experiment A dash one. A failure.”

  He stifled a laugh.

  “I made your weapons, their in your igloo, go back, thanks for watching the twins while I was gone, ill take care of them.”

  Dejected, I walked away from the war I lost.

  This time I was actually going to stay inside my igloo, unless of course, the man from earlier comes, ill let him know how much I improved my throwing.

  I took note of my new icy equipment, they had simple designs, just the way I like it, and quite balanced too.

  Then I had to figure out how to cancel the strings that I pulled, no matter how much I dust myself off, the white snow covered me from head to toe.

  I couldn’t figure it out, but I managed to make all the snow compress into one thick snowball.

  “Experiment A dash two successful.”

  The only thing is that when I make it come to me, it just comes at me.

  I decided to experiment with the purple powder, after all, it was made from gravity… somehow.

  Right now, all the powder was grouped up into one big ball, I first tested to see if I could make any attempts to cleanly separate it.

  It took TWO hours before I figured out I could turn off the attraction in each powder.

  Now I had a pile of powder.

  Next I put my hand above the pile, I wanted to make some powder hover, and not touch me.

  It was quite difficult, my control was near zero and I had to scrap that idea until I got better.

  I grabbed a handful of powder before going outside and spreading it on the snow.

  I willed the snow to form into a sphere before making it come to my hand.

  “Experiment A dash three successful.”

  If my experiments continue to be successful, I could soon make homing snowballs.

  Actually…

  I trekked into the forest, searching for another hare, or a bird, but it’s winter so they probably already migrated.

  I didn’t find a rabbit, but I did find a white furred squirrel. I took a few steps back before I threw the snowball like a professional baseball player.

  BOOF!

  Strike!

  The poor squirrel was knocked from the branch, covered in snow and purple sparkles, and began to fall.

  Now comes the moment of truth.

  I focused mana into the palm of my hand. Tugged at the several strings I could feel.

  And…

  The squirrel came flying into my hands!

  “Experiment A dash four complete success!”

  I now had a white, purple-sparkly squirrel that could never escape from me, unless it took a bath.
